Samsung delays Australian GALAXY Tab 10.1 launch again as Apple patent battle continues

Samsung has again delayed the launch of its GALAXY Tab 10.1 Android tablet in Australia amid an ongoing patent dispute with Apple. This time, Samsung has stated in court that it will not market or sell its 10-inch Honeycomb tablet until September 30th at the earliest. While the repeated launch delays are no doubt victories for Apple, which claims the Tab 10.1 infringes on multiple Apple-owned patents, Samsung won't stick to a defensive stance for much longer.

How do you compete with Google's new Wallet mobile payment system. Well, a $100 million cash infusion certainly couldn't hurt. AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon have plans to invest just that amount in Isis, sources told Businessweek. That sum is likely to grow, since taking on Google is no small feat, especially considering Wallet is already off the ground, with nationwide retail partners and support for MasterCard PayPass. Though Isis first made its debut last year, Google Wallet, which was announced in May, has clearly taken the lead.

Samsung ChatON messaging service announced

Samsung has just announced the release of their latest messaging service which is known as ChatON. This free service will see action at IFA 2011, where it is slated to arrive later this September in more than 120 countries, and with that number of countries, it goes without saying (pun not intended) that up to 62 languages would be supported. What makes the Samsung ChatON service so special. Well, it obviously will support Samsung's very own bada OS, in addition to the Android operating system, iOS and BlackBerry platforms.

LG working on a Mouse/Scanner Hybrid

Wednesday LG Electronics revealed plans to showcase its new LSM-100 hybrid at the IFA 2011 tradeshow in Berlin which begins September 1. The device is a combination of a mouse and a handheld scanner, allowing the user to simply hold the Smart Scan button on the left side of the mouse, and then swipe over any material (artwork, document etc) on a flat surface. The resulting scanned image can then be saved as PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XLS and DOC, or dragged and dropped into the desired application.

Nichicon lays claim to the world's smallest EV chargers with NGQ-202, NGQ-203 models

Although it'll still be hard to misplace in your pile of electronics, a company called Nichicon has launched what it says is the world's smallest chargers for electric vehicles, the NGQ-A202 and the NGQ-A302. By using what the company calls advanced module technology, it was able to shrink its EV charger down by 50 percent to around 59 x 13.8 x 23.6 inches, also reducing the weight by up to 66 percent. Compatible with the ChAdeMO standard, these 20-30kW chargers will work with electric vehicles like Mitsubishi's i-MiEV and the Nissan Leaf, taking between 35 and 60 minutes to fully power your whip.
