HTC Droid Incredible 2 no longer listed on Verizon's page, Droid Incredible 4G launch imminent?

If you were thinking of getting yourself the HTC Droid Incredible 2 from Verizon, you're out of luck. It seems that the link that you would take to purchase the phone will now lead you to a page that claims that "The selection you made is unavailable at this time", suggesting that it seems that the launch of the rumored HTC Droid Incredible 4G could be close at hand. Photos of the device have surfaced in the past (here and here) but until today, the handset has yet to be officially confirmed or announced by the carrier. For those who might have missed the news, the Droid Incredible 4G is expected to be the successor the Incredible 2.

BMW i8 Spyder takes to the stage bearing eDrive name

BMW has created the BMW i sub-brand for its upcoming production plug-in models, which currently include three concepts: the i3, i8 and the i8 Spyder. After keeping that third model away from our eager cameras at the New York Auto Show, BMW finally showed off the i8 Spyder Concept in the metal at the Beijing Motor Show today. The car itself we've already learned plenty about, but seeing it on stage shows once again that BMW is serious about putting cars like these on the road (toned down from the concept's style, of course, perhaps with something like this).

Ford EcoSport urban CUV unveiled in China

Ford has unveiled the production version of its EcoSport crossover at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. The small five-door utility should offer buyers plenty of functionality in a compact and efficient package thanks to a range of drivetrain configurations including a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder Ecoboost engine. The small-displacement engine is good for 118 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque, which should be more than enough to move the little machine around. All told, Ford says the EcoSport will see duty in over 100 world markets, though the CUV isn't expected to show up in our neck of the woods.

Samsung SCH-I200 is Verizon-bound with a Snapdragon S4 chipset

Recently uncovered Bluetooth SIG and GLBenchmark reports are shedding some light on a new Samsung smartphone headed to Verzion. The Samsung SCH-I200, known by the codename “Jasper,” looks to be an Ice Cream Sandwich handset running on the impressive dual-core Snapdragon S4 platform from Qualcomm. The 1.5GHz CPU was recently coupled with an LTE radio for the AT&T version of the HTC One X, and given the SCH-I200′s destination we would guess the same will apply here. The model number suggests that the phone will fall into the mid-range category as a followup to the likes of the Samsung Gem and Illusion.

HTC teaming with ST-Ericsson to develop in-house CPU for low-end smartphones

HTC may be the next manufacturer to begin producing smartphones with CPUs developed in-house, according  to China Times. The news house is reporting a deal between the Taiwanese mobile maker and ST-Ericsson that will see the development of a processor platform for low-end handsets. Smartphones with the new chip are expected to begin shipping next year. The use of in-house CPU components is an emerging trend in mobile as companies look to widen profit margins while maintaining greater control over supply chain and hardware. The likes of Samsung, Huawei, and Apple already offer devices utilizing in-house designs.

If you live in the UK, and were thinking "If only I could get my broadband from the same place I get my crystal tumbler set" then maybe now you can. Department store John Lewis, a favorite for wedding lists, furniture and homeware is branching out into the British ISP game. The standard package will be £11 a month (not including line rental,) offering "up to" 16Mb speeds and a 20GB data cap. More eager users can pay and extra £7 to remove that download limit. Both bundles benefit from a free phone support, no activation fee and, of course, wireless router.
