HTC Ville with Android ICS pictured?

HTC Ville with Android ICS pictured?

We've first heard about the HTC Ville at the beginning of this month. We didn't have a proper photo of it back then, but now it looks like we do. If the image seen bellow is legit, the Ville will be one good looking handset, thanks in no small part to HTC's well-known unibody design philosophy.
Reportedly, the Ville will be less than 8mm thin - this making it HTC's thinnest smartphone ever.

What's a bit weird is that the new handset seems to keep the four Android softkeys at the bottom of the display, although Ice Cream Sandwich (which will be on board) doesn't require them.

Sony Tablet P now available in the UK

Sony Tablet P now available in the UK

We've written quite a bit about the Sony Tablet P over the past few months, and while it was released in Japan last month, it looks like the device is now on sale in the UK. The unique dual-screen Android tablet will be available for £499.99 ($771) though we're pretty sure it'll be cheaper when it reaches our shores, especially with the inclusion of a 2-year contract.

Verizon's Galaxy Nexus likely priced at $199.99

. While Verizon Wireless has yet to announce any release details surrounding the latest Nexus smartphone, a series of leaks seemingly paint a complete picture of the carrier's launch plans. A purported internal document revealed on Wednesday points to a December 8th release for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and now a leaked Verizon Wireless advertisement lists the handset's on-contract price as $199.99. The Galaxy Nexus had previously been rumored to launch with a price tag closer to $300, so it is unclear if the pricing in the Verizon ad is standard or part of a holiday promotion.

Fujifilm XS1 Digital Camera

Fujifilm XS1 Digital Camera

Digital cameras nowadays need to offer that special feature to make them appealing. With many digital cameras now coming out, such features would really be a must to make a new model stand out. One example would be the new Fujifilm XS1 Digital Camera. The Fuijifilm XS1 Digital Camera features a 2x3 inch 12MP EXR CMOS sensor. But what makes it have that extra appeal is that it comes with a 26x optical zoom. Along with the Intelligent Digital Zoom feature, it is further boosted to achieve up to 52x digital zoom.

Nvidia believes Tegra 3 tablets will eventually hit $300

Nvidia's CEO Jen-Hsun Huang believes that pricing of Tegra 3 tablets will drop quickly. Jen-Hsun Huang expects at least some of those tablets to be on sale for $299 within “a couple quarters,” according to a post on Engadget. That remark was made over lunch and there is no explanation why the price could drop so dramatically from the current figure of about $500 – a price point that has been pretty stable for the basic models of high-end tablets for more than a year and a half.

Verizon Trademarks “Hologram” – Future 3D Device In The Works?

Everyone else is doing it and it looks like Verizon too could be jumping on the 3D bandwagon if this newly registered trademark for the “Hologram” is any indication. Sprint and AT&T are currently the only US carriers to offer stereoscopic “glasses free” smartphones like the HTC Evo 3D and the LG Thrill and although those phones didn't exactly translate into mega huge sales for their respective carriers, as 3D technology advances, it's sure to catch on… right. In any case, just because a name is registered with the trademark office doesn't guarantee it will be used.

NVIDIA's Tesla GPU powers Tsubame 2.0 to green supercomputer supremacy

The Green500 might not be quite as well known as the Top500, but it's no less of an honor to be counted among the world's most energy efficient supercomputers. NVIDIA is tooting its own horn for making it on to the list for the second year in a row as part of the "greenest" petaflop machine. The Tsubame 2.0 at the Tokyo Institute of Technology's Global Scientific Information Center is powered by Intel's Xeon CPUs, but NVIDIA's Tesla general purpose GPUs do a vast majority of the number crunching, allowing it to deliver 1.19 petaflops of performance while consuming only 1.2 megawatts.

Protect your Field Notes Notebook with a Corter Sleeve

I've recently become a fan of Field Notes notebooks because they are small, made in the US and have a cool retro look that appeals to me. These notebooks are designed to be shoved in a pocket, which is convenient, but after while will probably cause the notebook to become bent or overly worn. Corter Leather is now offering a rustic styled sleeve that will hold one Field Notes notebook (and other thin 5.5 x 3.5 in notebooks) along with a pen or pencil.

Doom for everyone. It's not a particularly festive message, but as promised earlier this week, the Doom 3 source code is now out on a general public license. Programming types can meddle with the game's inner workings as wintery temperatures force them to huddle close to the warm hum of excessive gaming rigs. Doom dad John Carmack announced the release to his horde of Twitter followers, while doffing his cap to Timothee Besset, who helped sidestep some shadow rendering license issues that had dogged an earlier release.

T-Mobile US just announced that it will be launching a new version of the highly popular Samsung Galaxy S II. The carrier will be making the flagship droid available in white for this holiday season. The white Samsung Galaxy S II will seemingly be using a different kind of plastic. If the official photos are anything to go by, it will be built from some new glossy plastic, rather than the opaque one used on the black version.

It's hardly a surprise though - the white version of the international Galaxy S II had to go glossy, too.

Nokia Drive For Non-Nokia Windows Phone 7 Devices Now Possible As XAP Leaks

Phone manufacturers are always looking for ways to differentiate their phones from their competitors. This is why we see tons of different custom user interfaces on Android (HTC Sense, MOTOBLUR, etc.). To make themselves stand out from their fellow WP7 manufacturers, Nokia has a few exclusive apps on their Windows Phone 7 devices, like Nokia Drive. That's a turn-by-turn navigation app that a few people are fond off. But, it's no longer exclusive to Nokia WP7 devices.

Earlier this month, we saw some claims on the internet that people had hacked Nokia Drive onto non-Nokia WP7 devices.

Galaxy Nexus Experiencing Volume Bug, 32GB Version Still Likely for Verizon

Though some have claimed the Samsung Galaxy Nexus could be the best smartphone ever produced, the early praise does not come without a few minor snags here and there. A bug has surfaced which sees the phone randomly mute itself then fail to respond to a users input using the volume control. After a bit of troubleshooting, the problem has been inconclusively linked to 2G data connectivity. The glitch seems to only occur when the handset is connected to the older wireless standard.

Diablo 3 mod lets you “darken” the mood of the game

When Diablo 3 was first revealed, it was met several negative reactions towards the overall look of the game. While some praised the game and its graphics, others said that the game felt too cartoony and lost the "dark" feel that was felt strongly in the first Diablo. If you belong to the latter category it appears that a mod is available that will allow you to "darken" the mood of the game. This mod was used for Skyrim and seems to be available for Diablo 3 as well, although we're not sure if the mod will still be usable once Diablo 3 is finalized and is out of beta.
