Cruisin Caskets offers a lead sled for the dead (video)

A good Halloween display usually has some of spooky zombie climbing out of a coffin coming back to life, but to be honest, if a car-loving zombie had been buried in a coffin from Cruisin Caskets, they might not be in too big of a rush to haunt the living. Now, we've seen cool car coffins before, but never to this level of detail. With fiberglass bodies inspired by lead sleds from the '50s, these coffins ask, 'If you're going to go, why not go in style?' The base price for a coffin from Cruisin Caskets in $5,500, but like all cars, there are plenty of options to drive the price up.

Digitizer makes 3D scanning accessible, but not yet practical

Like we said, even before you power up the Digitizer, it already puts a smile on your face. The simple black plastic body definitely isn't going to win any design awards and it doesn't exactly ooze luxury, but it is playfully futuristic, in a way reminiscent of early '90s children's toys. It's angular, understated and utilitarian, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Oddly there is some assembly required: the four rubber feet used to keep it from slipping about a desktop come packaged in a small zip-top bag.

Nexus 5 Teardown Pictures Surface Ahead Of Official Announcement

Another day, another Nexus 5 leak. Google has still not officially announced the device, and apart from rumors, there's no confirmation as to when the next Nexus smartphone is going to be made official. Its not like anything left to the imagination, pictures of the Nexus 5 have been leaking almost every single day. Even today we get to see high quality pictures of a Nexus 5 teardown, that too before the actual announcement of the device itself.
In these Nexus 5 teardown pictures we get to see its battery, rear and front facing camera, earphone jack and other internal components.

Nexus 5 Officially Announced, Available 'Today'

Google has just announced the Nexus 5 (official page) without fanfare on its website. The Nexus 5 is a highly anticipated handset which is mostlybased on the excellent LG G2 hardware. As usual, the new Nexus phone is going to represent the latest "pure Android" experience and it will come with Android 4.4, code-named KitKat. The official details are just starting to surface, but we know that unlike past Nexus smartphones, this one is going to support LTE and will be available with Sprint and T-Mobile in the USA.

Moto X camera gets an update... on the Google Play Store?

Moto X camera gets an update... on the Google Play Store?

Motorola has done something that's not quite common by today's standards, though I guess it's something we should all be getting used to by now. They have updated the camera app on the Moto X, except the changes didn't come with a cumbersome firmware upgrade as most manufacturers would issue them — it actually came in the form of a Google Play Store update. The upgrade itself seems pretty minor in scope, with the biggest known change so far being a brighter picture in the viewfinder (you know, to make sure all those blurrycam Nexus 5 shots are looking blurry-licious).

Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet Press Rendering Leaked

Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet Press Rendering Leaked

Heads up Verizon subscribers, if you're looking forward to getting your hands on a new tablet, a leak by the ever-reliable @evleakshas revealed a tablet that could soon be launched on the carrier's network by the name of the Ellipsis 7. Unfortunately apart from the name and the press rendering of the alleged device, not much else is known about the upcoming tablet, such as its price, specs, and availability, although if we had to venture a guess, we reckon the "7" in its name is most likely referring to a 7" display.

Original Nike FuelBand To Receive Some FuelBand SE Features In Firmware Update

Earlier in the month, Nike announced the FuelBand SE which was essentially an upgrade over the original Nike FuelBand fitness device. The overall design was kept the same, but Nike made some changes to it, such as the use of Bluetooth 4.0 that allows the device to perform more functions while using less power, adding a bit of water resistance, and new color options just to name a few of the improvements and changes made to it.

Apple Announces Fix Incoming For MacBook Pros With Keyboard/Trackpad Issues

The other day we reported that late 2013 MacBook Pros were suffering from keyboard and trackpad freezing issues. Well the good news is that Apple has since acknowledged the issue and has stated that a fix will be coming soon."Apple is aware of rare circumstances where the built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive on 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (Late 2013) computers and is working on an update to resolve this behavior." It is unknown as to when the fix will be released, but hopefully for the sake of new MacBook Pro owners, it will be sooner rather than later.

Oculus Rift mobile version in the works, coming to Android (and not iOS)

The Oculus Rift is one of the most immersive gaming products we have seen in a while. It doesn't just sink you into the game, it makes you part of it. The 3D virtual reality headset was only thought to come to PC until today, though, leaving many of us out of the equation. That is until today – the company has announced that a mobile version of the Oculus Rift is in the works.
Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe gave us the news during the GamesBeat conference this week, where he announced the smaller, mobile version of the PC Oculus Rift.

iPad Air Is Over 80 Percent Faster Than iPad 4

Apple unveiled its iPad Air just last week, which the company announced would be lighter and thinner than the previous fourth-generation iPad. Apple's tablet will still retain its Retina Display, but one major improvement to its internals is the inclusion of their 64-bit A7 chip, making it the most powerful iOS tablet ever to be released. According to some recently published benchmarks, it looks like this claim turned out to be true as the iPad Air is nearly twice as powerful as the fourth-generation iPad.

Magnum reveals new MK5 track car

America makes all sorts of cars, but dedicated track toys aren't usually among them. No, that's usually up to British companies like Ariel, BAC, Caterham and Radical. But that doesn't mean they aren't getting closer. The VUHL 05 comes to us from south of the border, and from the north, the new Magnum MK5. Not to be confused with the Dodge Magnum (which was also built in Canada), the Magnum MK5 is a new track toy that's been the subject of several teaser images and videos leading up to its reveal.

Watch the birth of the Reboot Buggy

Watch the birth of the Reboot Buggy

Joey Ruiter is fed up with what cars have become, so much so that he did something about it. The product designer based in Michigan built his own vehicle: the Reboot Buggy. The box on wheels reminds us what cars once were - crude replacements for the horse and buggy - and is his interpretation of what they should be: a form of transportation, stripped down to the bare minimum. You can read about the details of the buggy in a previous post, but the Reboot Buggy is really one of those cases where less equals more.

This is how Norwegian hipsters drift

The Scandinavian Flick is a driving technique used mainly in rallying, but applicable in a number of racing disciplines, used to elicit some serious oversteer. There is much Scandinavian flicking going on in this professionally filmed video, shot on the closed roads of Norway. This slidey action is courtesy of a heavily modified Toyota Cressida. Featuring work from Norway's Underground Garage and renamed "Shakotan," it sports a 2JZ-GE engine that's been liberated from the engine bay of a Toyota Supra. Shakotan is owned by Norwegian drifter Fredrik Sorlie, who just happens to be tossing the modded Cressida about.

Suzuki previews Crosshiker, X-Lander, Hustler ahead of Tokyo

With the Tokyo Motor Show looming on the horizon, Suzuki has revealed a trio of concept cars it will present at the expo. First up is the Crosshiker concept, a compact crossover that looks good enough in metallic red, but in its essence reminds us of the oft-maligned X-90 convertible crossover coupe. Based on the G70/Regina concept, the Crosshiker packs a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine into a compact form that weighs just 1,785 pounds.
Next comes the X-Lander, which strikes us as a smaller take on the formula espoused by the Isuzu VX-02 or Land Rover DC100 Sport concepts.

Verizon HTC One's Android 4.3 update delayed by a month

Verizon HTC One's Android 4.3 update delayed by a month

Just when you thought Verizon customers might finally be treated to a timely software upgrade, the bad news bees sting again. HTC America president Jason Mackenzie has announced on Twitter that the upgrade to Android 4.3 for the HTC One has been delayed for Verizon. The exec says they need about a month to work out some more things and go through the testing motions again. The upgrade was originally promised to be out of the door by the end of October.
HTC isn't interested in saying who or what, exactly, caused the delay, of course, but with Verizon's track record it's tough to imagine it was anyone's fault but their own.

US Treasury reports $9.7B loss on GM shares

The US Treasury has announced a $9.7 billion loss on the $49.5 billion it used to bailout General Motors in 2009, according to a report from the The Detroit News, which in turn cites the quarterly report from the Special Inspector General of the Troubled Asset Relief Program to Congress. The Treasury's original stake in GM saw it taking 912 million shares or 60.8 percent of the company in the bailout, numbers which have since fallen considerably. Since 2009, the Feds have sold off 811 million shares, and now own less than seven percent of the resurgent GM.

Is Google building a Google Glass retail store that floats in the San Francisco Bay?

Well, isn't this quite the interesting story to come off of afternoon lunch to. According to several reports, Google could be the culprit behind a secret project being worked on sitting on a barge inside the San Francisco Bay. Specifically, it's docked inside Clipper's Cove, a pocket of sea sitting right inside former US Navy Base Treasure Island.

Google says its driverless cars are safer than you

Google says its driverless cars are safer than you

After several years and thousands of miles of testing autonomous cars in California and Nevada, Google finally has something to show for its work – other than driving a blind man to get a taco. According to Technology Review, Chris Urmson, director of Google's self-driving car program, says that Google has data showing that autonomous cars are safer and smoother than actual drivers. This, of course, is a big improvement over Google's statement from 2011 that claimed autonomous cars are safer than drunk drivers. Google has been testing autonomous cars on public roads since 2010, and it always has someone in the driver's seat.

While having many players in a multiplayer game can be fun, especially if you like the ensuing chaos, it can dampen the overall experience as it can be messy as well as laggy at times. The good news is that if you're a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 gamer looking forward to getting their hands on Call of Duty: Ghosts, you're in luck because it seems that the console version of the game could have the maximum number of players in a multiplayer game reduced.
