Apple complains about Motorola with European authorities, wants more transparency in patent licensing

. After losing against Motorola, in a permanent injunction, Apple was requested 2.25% of all 3G Apple devices sold in exchange for patent licensing. If Apple's profit numbers are considered, that percentage amounts to quite a hefty amount of cash. And Cupertino Giant is not commiting to anything until it knows that Motorola is being fair.
Apple believes that Motorola is trying to take advantage of Apple, due to their rivalry, which is why Apple asked for more transparency about Motorola's deals with other manufacturers.

. Apple posted the most profitable quarter ever among technology companies to close out 2011 and according to a number of industry analysts, the Cupertino-based company is on track for another huge quarter to kick off the new year. Oppenheimer analyst Ittai Kidron on Friday raised his price target on shares of Apple stock to $570 from his earlier target of $510, maintaining his Outperform rating. Though Apple managed to ship a record number of iPhones and iPad tablets in its first fiscal quarter - more than 37 million iPhones and 15.4 million iPads - the analyst believes the market is anything but saturated.

Small town up in arms over armored transport vehicle purchase (video)

Despite tight budgets at all levels of government, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is still giving local law enforcement agencies military vehicles. According to a report in The Huffington Post, a small town in New Hampshire was set to receive an armored personnel vehicle before one local resident launched a petition drive to block the acquisition. The Keene, NH, police department was going to get its own Lenco BearCat, a vehicle the town's mayor reportedly described as a "tank." However, citizens in the town of 23,000 revolted, according to the article, with nearly 100 of them packing a city council meeting in opposition.

Three Samsung phones show up with WiFi certification

Samsung may not be holding any press conferences at the Mobile World Congress this year, but that doesn't it won't have anything to show at the event. According to recent sightings on the WiFi certification website, Samsung might have three phones to unveil to the public. The three devices that have been recently spotted with WiFi certification are the SGH-T999, SGH-I535, and the SPH-L710. Since Samsung won't be announcing the Galaxy S3 at MWC, it's safe to say that we can rule it out from the trio.

Apple's Messages beta drops high resolution Macs

Will there, or will there not be a high resolution Mac down the road that sports Retina Displays. That is a question that has gone begging for some time already, and today, we caught a whiff of such a possibility yet again. It seems that the most recent beta release of Messages for OS X comes with support for double-pixel resolutions – which is hard evidence that Apple has something magical up their sleeves, such as a high-resolution Retina Display on Mac hardware that will be released down the road.

We've got a hold of what is said to be Apple's iOS 5.1 GM, the version that will be released to the public on or around March 9th, and we can now confirm an earlier report detailing two new changes. The lock screen in iOS 5.1 has a fixed camera button located next to the slide to unlock button, and instead of tapping on it to launch the camera, you simply drag the entire unlock section up to reveal the camera finder. This makes photo-taking instantly fast when you're getting the phone out of your pocket or bag. Siri has indeed learned Japanese as well, and we've been able to confirm that in Settings.

OS X Mountain Lion dropping support for older Intel-based Macs

Naturally as operating systems advance, older computer models will slowly stop being able to support them due to their hardware not being sufficient enough. Such was the case with OS X Leopard back in 2007 where Macs with processors slower than 867MHz were not supported, and it was repeated again with Snow Leopard where support for all PowerPC Macs were dropped. Well if you liked what you saw with Apple's upcoming OS X Mountain Lion, and if you have not changed your Mac computer in the past 2-3 years, you could be out of luck if you were hoping to upgrade.

University study shows recalls have hardly hurt Toyota

If you think Toyota is still reeling from negative opinions stirred up by the company's rash of recalls in 2009, North Carolina State University has some news for you. According to a new study conducted by researchers at the institution, the recalls had "little to no impact" on how buyers see the Japanese automaker. Robert Hammond, an assistant professor of economics at NCSU, says the research specifically looked at the used car market to negate the impact of outside factors like incentives, marketing campaigns and models not associated with the recall to begin with.

The court evaluated three different embodiments, two of which Apple won. The Cupertino-based company was unsuccessful on the third embodiment, which involved the Motorola XOOM.

Nvidia Kepler GK104: More leaks, rumors on specifications

As reported on February 7th, we got a first glimpse of the rumored specifications for Nvidia's Kepler based graphics cards. The leaked specifications were met with mixed feelings from both sides of the comment fence. Now, we are starting to get more pieces of information on the upcoming Kepler series. Based on information coming out of German-based 3dcenter.org, we may have a clearer picture of the true specifications for Kepler GK104.
Outside of the switch to the 28 nm process, one of the major changes in the Kepler architecture is to allow for more CUDA cores. This is achieved by no longer having shader frequency, just GPU frequency.

In my opinion, it looks more “polished” then the PSP ever was. The device fits rather comfortably in my hands and all the controls fall right under my fingers. I will have to use it for a period of time to see if the first-impression sticks in terms of ergonomics.

The folks at Xyologic have crunched some numbers recently regarding Google TV. The platform has 64 apps specifically designed for it. Of these 64 apps, six are pre-installed on Google TV devices. Those 6 apps have been “downloaded” 4.44 million times, apparently, out of the nearly 4.8 million apps that have been downloaded. That means that 92% of all apps downloaded on Google TV devices aren't even by choice. Xyologic says a lot of this is due to the “underwhelming” selection of applications on the Android market.
