Skype for iPad promo videos leaked on Youtube, confirmed by Skype Exec.

Although the iPad 2 has been out since March, we have yet to see a Skype app specifically optimized for Apple's tablet. Current users have been able to use the Skype app for the iPhone 4, but it is not made for that specific screen size. A promo video of Skype for the iPad 2 was leaked this morning on Youtube, but was quickly pulled after the company realized they had made a mistake. TUAW had a few words with Skype VP of Consumer and Product Design Rick Osterloh about the Skype app for the iPad 2.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 hits the UK on 4 August

Samsung will release the 10-inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the UK at the beginning of August. A successor to the reasonably popular original 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, it will launch with the latest version of Android in Honeycomb 3.1, specially optimised for tablets. Samsung also announced that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will come out later this year, as the company tries to keep all the bases covered.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is certainly a step-up in terms of power, with a 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. It also has a 3-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera, with 1080p HD video playback.

Nokia N9 confirmed to be the last MeeGo phone from Nokia

While it's been speculated for quite some time that the N9 would be the last MeeGo device from Nokia, especially since Nokia will be onboard with Windows Phone 7 starting this year, people were still hopeful about the future of MeeGo and Nokia. Well according to a recent statement from Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia, it looks like we can put all those dreams to rest. Here's what he had to say, according to a quote from a Finnish report (translated to English):.

The Sauer Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine is the Energy of the Future

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sauer Energy for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. The cost of all forms of energy we use daily is going up. The continually rising price of gasoline seems to be driving up the cost of everything we use. The energy we need to heat, cool, and power our homes is no exception to rising prices, and we all are feeling the pinch.

HTC Glamor may be the company's first smartphone aimed at women

Last month we first heard some tidbits about HTC's supposed plans to bring to market an Android smartphone aimed at women. That was apparently going to be sold by Verizon in the US. Some time has passed since then, but it now looks like HTC hasn't given up on its women-centric ambitions. An image of a device called (or perhaps codenamed) HTC Glamor has leaked today, and judging by the wild colors it sports, it may be the incarnation of the HTC Bliss project rumored last month. Back then we had no image to look at, however this HTC Glamor doesn't quite look like the Bliss was supposed to.

AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G now only $89.99, Motorola Atrix 4G just $0.01 with contract

Two very much high-end Android smartphones for AT&T have seen their prices dramatically cut by Amazon today, and hence both have turned into hard to resist offerings, especially at these prices. The Samsung Infuse 4G has been discounted once before during the weeks that have passed since it was launched by AT&T for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. We've seen the Infuse 4G go for $149.99 at Amazon, but the well known retailer has now cut the smartphone's price even more.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 will get Android 3.1 update on July 5 in Germany

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 is one of the more interesting Android Honeycomb tablets on the market, primarily because it's quite affordable, at least compared to some of the competition (cough, Xoom, cough). While perhaps not being the cheapest 10-inch Android tablet, that award probably being snatched by the Asus Eee Pad Transformer in most markets, Acer's first effort is a good one nevertheless. Back in May we heard that the Iconia Tab A500 would get updated to Android 3.1, the latest version of the tablet-optimized fork of Android, sometime in June, alongside the Eee Pad Transformer.

Sharp SH8188U to arrive Stateside?

Sharp SH8188U to arrive Stateside?

It is very rare to see a smartphone or even a feature phone from Japan arrive in the US – normally, the phones from that part of the world tend to be exclusive, so we are pleasantly surprised to see the Sharp SH8188U being slated for a US release. This Android-powered smartphone will be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, sporting a WVGA display – although there is no word on its size. Needless to say, we have the specifications for the Asian version as it is already out, playing nice on the WCDMA 900 and 2100MHz bands, although with a spanking new radio, it will be suitable for 3G connectivity in North America.

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the first Nokia WP7 device. Introduced by no other than the company CEO, Stephen Elop in what he thought was a camera-free environment. Despite his confidentiality plea someone couldn't resist the temptation and shared a few photos and a quick video with us. We don't know if Stephen Elop is really so naive as to believe that no one will take a shot of one of the most hotly anticipated devices of the year or this is just a clever way to gain some publicity, but it doesn't matter really.

Keep Your Desktop Cords In Place With Pinzacord

Keep Your Desktop Cords In Place With Pinzacord

In today's world where we're becoming increasingly dependent on electronics we have pretty much cables for everything. Chargers for our laptops, tablets, smartphones and power cables for computers, monitors, printers, scanners including peripherals like our keyboards and mouse (unless of course you go the wireless route), webcam, microphones and if you happen to be in the media industry you probably have cables for your cameras to transfer photos, graphic tablets, music instruments so on and so forth, which is why seeing a table cluttered by cables in offices and homes today isn't really that uncommon.

Spy Shots: BMW to dress up 5 Series Gran Turismo with M Sport package?

You may think that adding an M Sport pack to the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig, but let's be honest: BMW has to do something to broaden the 5GT's appeal and try to boost sales. BMW had projected that it would sell between 4,000 and 8,000 of its Gran Turismo range annually in the United States. Yet in 2010, the company only managed to move 2,848. Ouch. Our spy photographers caught this prototype of a 5 Series GT out in Germany, dressed up in what appears to be traditional M Sport kit.

Magellan Back-Up Camera reduces car reverse accidents

Magellan Back-Up Camera reduces car reverse accidents

A large number of cars available on the market today feature rear view cameras that are pretty irreplaceable when it comes to helping drivers reverse their vehicles. It makes parking so much easier and makes sure that drivers don't hit anything behind them either. Unfortunately a lot of existing cars don't have this feature, and it costs quite a bit to install. But for owners of the Magellan RoadMate 9055 or 1700 car GPS navigators, we've got some good news for you.
Magellan has decided to release a Back-Up Camera designed to work with the RoadMate 9055 and 1700 GPS navigators.

Preview: 2011 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

On June 26th, competitors for this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will once again race to the clouds in hopes of breaking the elusive ten-minute mark, but the famous mountain might have something to say about that. Three inches of snow fell on the summit yesterday, with temperatures just above freezing. Fortunately, the weather for race day looks to be more conducive to racing, although the elements in Colorado at 14,000 feet are famously unpredictable. "It's really the mountain that decides what happens," says Race Director Phil Layton.
