Toshiba TransferJet hands-on: NFC-like file transfers faster than ever

Toshiba TransferJet hands-on: NFC-like file transfers faster than ever

We are live from Qualcomm's Uplinq event at Sunny San Diego. We have already seen much of what is around, but one always finds great products at the show floor. Let's take a loot at this one – it's Toshiba's TransferJet technology. Sending files via NFC is great for small files, but it is worthless if you want to send anything that over a hefty amount of megabytes. This is why Samsung's S-Beam is so convenient (uses WiFi to transfer), but it is still not fast enough to send files that are too large.

Prospecs Power Walk 503 sport walking shoes review

. The right tools will make any activity easier and more enjoyable. For example, you wouldn't want to build a house with a Swiss Army Knife or paint a portrait with a toothbrush. So it follows that a runner wouldn't wear flip flops to run a marathon and a sports walker shouldn't wear running shoes to walk for fitness. I've never tried shoes designed especially for walking even though I purposefully walk a couple miles a day. Most days I wear a pair of Asics cross trainers. I liked them so much that I bought 4 pairs just so I'd have a pair even when they stop making them.

Ford doubling 1.0L EcoBoost engine production

Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine hasn't been around that long, but it sounds like the engine is getting to be fairly popular in the automaker's global car lineup. The Detroit News is reporting that Ford has add a second shift that will allow its German engine plant to double daily output from 500 engines to 1,000. The increased capacity is part of a plan to sell more than 300,000 vehicles a year with this engine in Europe by 2015.

2014 Mazda6: July/August 2013

Our newest long-termer – the Soul Red 2014 Mazda6 seen here – arrived in my driveway at the end of June. Without hesitation, I immediately put it to work as a daily driver, carpool bus and family vacation sled, and it accomplished all of those tasks with aplomb. Now, more than 4,000 miles down the road, I am left convinced that Mazda's latest midsize sedan is one of the best in its segment. Looking back through my notes, most of my praise is directed at the styling and chassis. This Mazda looks good in pictures, and it's equally as impressive in person.

Did Google 'accidentally' leak a new Nexus smartphone?

It looks like the Android 4.4 KitKat statue is not the only thing revealed by Google today. A mysterious smartphone, sporting a large Nexus logo on its back has made an unscheduled appearance as well. The mysterious smartphone you see in the photo above appeared in the video which showcases the Android 4.4 KitKat statue's placement in Google's campus. Google has subsequently made the YouTube video private, thus further strengthening the feeling that we are indeed looking at the real deal.

Klipsch launches Status headphones and Gig Bluetooth speaker (hands-on)

Meanwhile, the Status is a new set of headphones that are built from Grilamid, a highly light and flexible material. In addition, it's clad in a fancy pearl finish which, we have to admit, is just a little bit baller. As well as being light enough to carry around, the unit comes with passive noise cancellation, meaning that you'll be spared the annoyance and weight of strapping a battery-powered ANC set to your head. When we tried it on, when in a hugely busy trade show hall, the Status was easily able to push the rabble around us to mere background noise.

ASUS Teases New Transformer Tablet

ASUS Teases New Transformer Tablet

Earlier this year ASUS announced a new tablet, the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity which was recently spotted at the FCC, but it seems that ASUS might have a new Transformer tablet to announce, thanks to a post on its Facebook page in which the teaser reads, "We Transform Your Mobility" with a countdown to IFA 2013. Unfortunately for us the teaser doesn't tell us much, although it is speculated that this new tablet will focus more on mobility, which could mean it could possibly be both thinner and lighter at the same time.

This comes from a CrackBerry forum post in which an alleged T-Mobile employee was quoted as saying, "My manager told me the other day that all blackberry 10 devices will now be only available via direct ship.

There have been a lot of rumors about Apple's upcoming smartphones. Even if the company doesn't announce the much rumored budget iPhone, it is definitely going to launch the successor to the iPhone 5. Ever since it released iPhone 3GS after the iPhone 3G, the company has released a smartphone with minor changes and the “S” label every other year. Since it launched the iPhone 5 last year, there has been a lot of speculation that the upcoming smartphone will be called iPhone 5S. The moniker for Apple's upcoming smartphone has apparently been “confirmed” by Japanese carrier KDDI.
