[Video] Samsung finally gets a Note 3 ad right

[Video] Samsung finally gets a Note 3 ad right

Samsung typically does a decent job with their advertising. I thought their “The Next Big Thing Is Already Here” campaign, targeting Apple fanboys, was pretty good, and I also enjoyed their Superbowl ad. However, their team definitely seemed to not be at the top of their game recently, particularly with their Note 3 efforts. The puppets ad seemed to make no particular sense to me, while the one feature Lionel Messi was a case of not quite understanding the entire theme of the soundtrack used. In their latest bid, however, they've gone back to basics and focused purely on demonstrating the strengths of their device.

iPhone 5s stock almost out in the US, iPhone 5c fully available

Apple went off to a good start with its new generation of iPhone – in just the first weekend the company shipped 9 million units of the 5s and 5c combined. But analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray thinks this is mostly thanks to the iPhone 5s, which was the top selling device in the US for the month of September. Munster contacted 60 Apple stores and found that the iPhone 5s availability dropped to just 6%, down from 27% a couple of weeks ago.

Some mighty machines have lapped the banks of the Daytona International Speedway over the years: thunderous V8-powered stock cars, Le Mans-conquering Group C prototypes, open-wheel Champ Cars, knee-dragging superbikes. heck, the infield lake has even hosted powerboat racing. But this – this is the fastest car ever to lap the legendary raceway. What you're looking at is the new Daytona Prototype being prepared by Riley Technologies for the new United SportsCar Championship.

US Military Looks To Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS)

Now here is something that might eventually make the jump from the world of science fiction to our reality. Remember how Tony Stark and his Iron Man suits made plenty of geeks drool in the movies. Well, a real life Iron Man suit might actually be in the pipeline, as the U.S. Army has already commissioned a kind of suit known as the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS), where it is strong enough to be able to take in a barrage of bullets without the person wearing the suit ending up as a bloody mess.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts Specs Released By NVIDIA Are Not Official, According To Activision

Just the other day, NVIDIA revealed the minimum hardware specification requirements gamers would need if they wished to play Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts on their computer. While some of the specs made sense, what really stood out was the fact that the game would require a whopping 50GB of hard disk space for the install. Granted games these days are getting bigger, but 50GB does seem like a lot, doesn't it. Well there is a chance that the 50GB requirement could be wrong, according to a tweet by Activision.
The tweet was in response to a fan asking if the specs released by NVIDIA were official.

iPad Mini Found To Have The Fastest Touchscreen

When we interact with our smartphones or tablets, we don't really notice how long it takes for an app or action to happen once we touch it as the response time is usually in milliseconds, but for those who are curious as to which tablet has the fastest touchscreen, well the folks at Agawi have decided to find out themselves by running several tests, with the results coming back and deciding that Apple's iPad mini hash the fastest touchscreen of all the popular tablets out there in the market today. According to their results, the iPad mini had an average response time of 75 milliseconds.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini And Galaxy Mega To Receive Android 4.4 KitKat

There has been a bit of sniffing around done, where an internal Samsung KNOX document did point to the South Korean manufacturer's plans to roll out Android 4.4 KitKat to both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega in due time. This would come about after said devices receive updates to Samsung's security app. Of course, we all know that there are two different Samsung Galaxy Mega models, with one of them being the Galaxy Mega 5.8 while the other is the Galaxy Mega 6.3, so we will just make the assumption at this point in time that regardless of your Mega model, it will still be on the receiving end of Android 4.4 KitKat.

Revenge Porn Ban Being Considered By New York Lawmakers

Just last week, California created a law that would classify “revenge porn” as a criminal misdemeanor, and it looks like New York lawmakers also want to make a stand against this kind of thing. Unlike California though, New York is looking to include photos taken by the subject as being a part of their stand against revenge porn. Suffolk County senator Phil Boyle recently spoke on a local radio station on the subject of creating a law that would fight revenge porn in New York. During his interview, he reminds listeners that “80 percent of these pictures are selfies.

Nintendo Wii U owners now have the opportunity to pick up the digital and retail version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, allowing gamers both new and old to enjoy one of NIntendo's finest Zelda games ever created.  We learned a few weeks ago The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD wasn't the only game Nintendo considered for an HD remake, although considering Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma has admitted the game took a total of six months to develop, we think more HD remakes would be pretty easy to carry out in the future.

Google announces HP Chromebook 11 for $279, we go hands-on

A few interesting changes this time around: HP moved the digitally tuned speakers below the chiclet keyboard, which allows for "sound that rises up toward you." The Chromebook 11 also charges via micro-USB, which means you'll likely have the power cord you need on you at all times. Speaking of connections, you'll find two USB 2.0 ports on the left side of the machine, along with a headphone jack and SlimPort video out, while the right side is completely clean. Google said the HP Chromebook Pro 11 was inspired by the Pixel, but don't expect that notebook's pixel density here.

Samsung Could Be Looking To Waterproof Future Smartphones

Samsung Could Be Looking To Waterproof Future Smartphones

Waterproof devices seem to be the "in" thing this year, what with the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 both featuring waterproof capabilities, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active which offered up similar protection as well. Granted such devices might have a niche audience, as in those who require such durability and protection, but it seems that such devices have been selling well enough for Samsung to consider rolling out more similar devices in the future.

The problem was faced by a small number of early adopters back then and the devices weren't actually as bent as the iPhone 5S seen in these pictures.

I've been looking for lamps recently, and I stumbled across this.  It may not be the statement I want to make in the living room, but it might be perfect for the home office.   With the Alien Abduction Lamp, it looks for all the world as if old Bossie the cow is being abducted by tractor-beam wielding aliens aboard the flying saucer.  This lamp stands about 11.5″ tall and has a 9″ diameter.  It uses LED lights and has a high-quality Perspex beam; the space ship is made of stainless steel with a black-pearl finish and has glow-in-the-dark aliens.

Samsung Announces New 13MP Camera Sensor With OIS

When it comes to cameras, larger megapixels does not always dictate the quality of the camera as many photographers will tell you, but unfortunately it is a numbers game and many smartphone manufacturers have tried to upstage one another by offering cameras with larger megapixels on their smartphones. Well the good news is that Samsung's Electro-Mechanics subsidiary has announced a new camera sensor which does not appear to be trying to up the megapixel count, but rather its features. The new 13MP camera sensor is said to offer up better performance compared to other 13MP camera sensors out there.

Android 4.3.1 For LTE Nexus 7 2013 Released

Out of the blue and without any fanfare, Google rolled out Android 4.3.1 for LTE Nexus 7 2013. It is an incremental update, but Google hasn't described at length exactly what changes this update, Android 4.3.1, (JLS36I) brings. As of now, the update has only been rolled out for the LTE Nexus 7 2013, and not for any other Nexus device. Since no new major features have been added, the update weighs in at just 9.42MB and is available for download right now on the compatible tablet, over the air.
The changelog of Android 4.3.1 indicates that the update brings performance and stability improvements for the Nexus 7 tablet.
