Honda recalls select 2013 Accords over fuel tank neck

Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have announced a recall for 1,659 model-year 2013 Honda Accord vehicles. The affected Accords are Low-Emission Vehicle II rated cars manufactured between January 15 and April 5 of 2013. The recall is pursuant to a fuel tank neck that might be out of specification, and the variance could result in the fuel pump not properly sealing with the fuel tank. As you might guess, a bad seal here could result in a gasoline leak, posing a fire risk.

More Nexus 7 Details Leaked

When it comes to Google's next generation Nexus 7 device, it seems that more and more details are starting to be divulged to the general populace. In fact, just a few days back, there were some leaked photos that seem to point to the next generation Nexus 7 arriving in due time – next week, to be exact, for $269 a pop with 32GB of internal memory. Sounds affordable. Sure, but it would also mean costing $20 more compared to the existing model, so it remains to be seen whether the additional $20 spent will be worth every penny.

We did read about how the unofficial Android 4.3 build has been leaked out for the Nexus 4, and here we are with information concerning the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, touting that this particular phablet would see the Android 4.3 operating system update headed straight for it, which means it will skip the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean bus along the way. Apparently, Australian carrier Telstra did pick up a confirmation that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 4G model will give the Android 4.2.2 update a miss, where it will hitch a ride to Android 4.3 instead.

Hyundai shows Walking Dead Veloster Zombie Survival Machine at Comic-Con

The Walking Dead, the hit zombie apocalypse show on AMC, has enjoyed a marketing tie-in with Hyundai for two seasons now. If you've watched the show, you'd no doubt seen Rick Grimes, his sociopath-in-training son Carl and emerging hero Glenn Rhee avoiding the dead behind the wheel of a light-green Hyundai Tucson. That relationship expanded beyond the show when Hyundai brought an Elantra Coupe-based Zombie Survival Machine to last year's San Diego Comic-Con. For this year's Comic-Con, the new Zombie Survival Machine is just a touch faster, funkier and deadlier.

Apple MacBook Air Software Update 1.0 Fixes Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues

It was near the end of last month when Apple acknowledged that their MacBook Air 2013 model does indeed suffer from Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and right before July came about, we were informed that a certain update to fix this niggling and irritating issue is being tested by Apple, with selected users invited to jump aboard the testing bandwagon, too. I guess it is with a huge sigh of relief to hear that Apple has just rolled out their MacBook Air Software Update 1.0 which will put to an end all Wi-Fi connectivity issues on your MacBook Air 2013 model – at least for now.

VLC For iOS Version 2.0 Releases Tomorrow On App Store

It was back in 2010 when VLC was first released for the iPad. A few months later, the play-anything functionality touting app was also released for the iPhone. However the app was pulled from the App Store in 2011 due to violation of the GNU General Public License. Since then the app has been available in Cydia, the jailbreakers' app store. The problem is that not everyone who wants VLC on their iOS device has a jailbroken device. There's good news though. VideoLAN, the developers of this app, have announced that by tomorrow a new VLC for iOS app will be available in the App Store.

HTC begins teasing HTC One Mini announcement for tomorrow

HTC begins teasing HTC One Mini announcement for tomorrow

It's been a long time coming, but after numerous leaks it seems HTC is finally ready to make the HTC One Mini official. The Taiwanese manufacturer took to their UK Twitter account to tease a “little bit of news” coming tomorrow. This was followed by the above image of something that looks an awful lot like the HTC One, but tucked away neatly in a pocket. While the “regular” HTC One isn't huge by any means, it could still be a little large for many. Even with a 4.7-inch display, there is enough bezel along the top and bottom to make the device taller than other devices with the same screen size.

HTC One S "Ville" Might Get Android 4.2.2 Update

Over two weeks back HTC confirmed that its One S smartphone won't be receiving any updates, despite the fact that the company had previously said it would get Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.0 update. This means that users will be stuck at Android 4.1.1. After this announcement a petition was started online urging HTC CEO to resume updates for the One S. A well known developer has claimed in a series of tweets that HTC is backtracking on its earlier decision of halting updates for its device.

Microsoft Surface RT Price Cuts Probably Won't Improve Sales

Last week it was rumored that Microsoft was going to be slashing $150 off of Surface RT price in the U.S. It did indeed do that, but only a couple of days back we found out that they have in fact reduced prices of the Surface RT globally by as much as 30 percent. One of the reasons believed to be behind this move is that Microsoft wants to hike sales of its first tablet creation. Digitimes says in a new report that price cuts are probably not going to help improve sales, as prices for Android tablets as well as touchscreen Windows notebooks have also gone down.

Earlier this year it was reported that Google Glass would come in a prescription version, allowing those of us who wear glasses to enjoy the technology as well. However it wasn't clear as to how this would work; would it be a pair of Google Glasses that could attach to any pair of regular spectacles, or would it be a pair of prescription glasses that would come with the Google Glass technology built right into the lens itself. Well thanks to a patent filed by Google, it seems that it's a little bit of both.

Logitech has just launched their Z600 Bluetooth computer speakers that have been designed to match the distinct "aluminum" color of Apple products. Obviously, it also works (in a radius of 10 yards) with PCs, smartphones, headphones and any other device that is compatible with Bluetooth A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) - that is most of what you could use in practice. If you don't want to use Bluetooth, the Z600 also has USB and 3.5mm inputs. I really like the design, which is very minimalist and should blend nicely with most modern environments (106x108x235.5mm for 1360g).

When it comes to resolution on tablet devices, you would most probably find that Full HD displays are not too common, although we are heading in the right direction with upcoming tablet devices regardless of the manufacturer. In fact, one thing I admire about generic Chinese manufacturers would be this – they tend to deliver great looking displays in terms of the resolution count, but other than that, there is still plenty of work to be done. Case in point, the Cube U39GT that will arrive with a 9" display that sports Full HD resolution.

The styling changes at Mazda are proceeding at a fairly quick tempo. The CX-5 was unveiled, followed by a refreshed CX-9, the excellent Mazda6, and most recently a new Mazda3. This all happened over the course of less than two years, which in the auto industry is like a long week. Now the Mazda2 is getting its revamp. Thanks to a magazine scan from Japan, we now have our first look at the new sub-compact, called the Demio, in its home market. Mazda's familial front end has been fitted, and it doesn't look quite as suited to the smaller car.
