EPA's classic 1970 Plymouth Superbird a no-sale in Atlantic City auction

EPA's classic 1970 Plymouth Superbird a no-sale in Atlantic City auction

If there's one thing we've learned from the Barrett-Jackson hype machine, it's that if you want to sell an old car for ungodly sums of money, it helps to have a good yarn to tell about it. Which is why we're somewhat shocked to see this Superbird fail to attract enough interest from bidders at the Atlantic City Classic Car Auction this past weekend. The 1970 Plymouth Superbird you see above was formerly the property of the Environmental Protection Agency, which used it in some seminal air pollution tests, racing the car down a runway against a jet to measure emissions.

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S III not coming next month, after all

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S III not coming next month, after all

. As it usually goes, rumors for the Samsung Galaxy S III have been coming and going. The latest was reported yesterday, when ZDNet cited its sources to say that the Galaxy S III would be released in April, after a March announcement. But today, Korean website MT is citing a Samsung Official, assuring us that this is not happening.
The source goes on to mention that the company hasn’t yet decided when this highly anticipated device is coming. But it is surely not coming during the “fourth month of the year.” This pretty much leaves us where we have been all along.

We have no idea what is going on with this device.

Carrozzeria Touring Disco Volante concept revealed early

Carrozzeria Touring Disco Volante concept revealed early

The string of early reveals in front of the Geneva Motor Show continues with bonafide auto-porn shots of the Carrozzeria Touring Disco Volante concept. And if it's true that sex sells, Alfa Romeo could seriously clean up if it put this hot hatch into production. Coachbuilder Carrozzeria drew heavily from the Touring Disco concept it created for Alfa in 1952. The boattail-like rear window and tiny twin taillights are direct descendants of the 60-year-old muse.

SLP says it is developing new GNX and Grand National Buicks

As you might remember, we were left unfulfilled by the 2012 Buick Regal GS. Buick just didn't go far enough, in our estimation, which is why when we read about the possibility of a tuner version of the GS from SLP Performance Parts on Inside Line, we got on the phone posthaste. SLP is best known for building the Firehawk and SS versions of fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebirds and Chevrolet Camaros for General Motors, and owning the "ZL" trademark that both it and GM have used on the current-gen Camaro.

Is the new iPad going to be called iPad HD?

Is the new iPad going to be called iPad HD?

Would Apple name the new iPad 3 the iPad HD. According to alleged part listings from Griffin and Belkin, this may be the case. The product name is a good match for the its new Retina-like display. Accessories manufacturers don't have a clue about Apple marketing plans until the very last minute. They usually get the physical specifications for new product versions in advance, so they can have products ready for launch.

Android and iOS expose your photos to third party apps, promise fixes

2012 is still young, yet it's already shaping up to be a bad year for privacy and security on the mobile front. Apple found itself embroiled in a bit of a brouhaha over the iPhone address book and an app called Path. And, of course, Google was put under the microscope when mobile Safari was found to have a security flaw that its mobile ads were exploiting. Then, earlier this week, it was discovered that granting iOS apps access to your location could also expose your photos. Now it's been discovered that Android also exposes your images, though, it's doing so without asking for any permissions at all.

Nokia 701, 700 and 603 to get Belle FP1, same as 808 PureView

Nokia revealed that the Nokia 808 PureView runs Nokia Belle OS Feature Pack 1, which brings a number of improvements. Also, they have some good news and some bad news for owners of current Belle devices too, depending on what device you have. The good news is that if you have Nokia 701, 700 or 603, then you'll be getting the feature pack soon. The bad news is that other devices (like the older ones that launched with Symbian^3 or the Nokia 500) are not invited to the party.

Here's some more good news/bad news - the 701 and 700 will both have their CPUs bumped to 1.3GHz by the update, matching the 808 PureView.

Capcom, Bandai, SEGA collaboration teases us further with possible character reveals

About a week ago, we reported that Capcom, Bandai and SEGA were working together on a secret project for the Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately at that time, little to nothing was known, and the teaser site was literally a tease and gave us nothing to go by. However if you were excited about the possibility between that huge collaboration, well the teaser site this time around has revealed a bit more. The website now shows three petri dishes, one for each company, and clicking on the dishes will zoom in and reveal three X chromosomes per dish.

We can't say it was necessarily love at first sight, but a second passover certainly helped our heart grow fonder. In our first hands-on of the Acer CloudMobile, a phone with a product design award under its belt, we weren't completely convinced that it was worthy of such a prize. However, we were given the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time with the device and previously unknown specs to go along with it. Here's what we discovered during our reacquaintance. First, the CloudMobile brings with it a 4.3-inch 1,280 x 720 HD display, which translates into 342ppi of non-PenTile wonderment.

Buick teases 2013 Enclave ahead of debut in New York

Buick teases 2013 Enclave ahead of debut in New York

The Enclave has been a big breadwinner in the Buick lineup for over five years, with annual sales that have hovered around 50,000 units, and this past year has seen its best numbers yet. Not bad for a crossover that can crest $50,000 with the right options checked, and even better for a vehicle that has seen virtually nothing in the way of engineering or design updates. That changes for the 2013 model year, as Buick will finally give their range-topper some refreshed duds. The Enclave will be shown for the first time at the New York Auto Show on April 4, and we now have the first official sneak peak of the updated interior.

Intel socks away $100M for Connected Car Fund

Here's a stat for you: By 2014, cars will be in the top three fastest-growing segments for connected devices and streaming content. So it's not entirely surprising that Intel, which has continued to diversify its businesses in the last decade, is betting big on the connected car market. To that end, the chipmaker has created the Intel Capital Connected Car Fund to invest in technologies and companies that advance in-car infotainment systems.
Intel already has partnerships with BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota and a handful of Chinese manufacturers, but this new fund will primarily finance private and public software and hardware ventures.

Ferrari is, among other things, a cult of personalities. It just tries to keep those personalities to a manageable number to include its founder Enzo Ferrari, his successor and longtime chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo and whatever two talents happen to be filling the seats of its F1 cars – Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa. You don't tend to hear the names of any of the thousands of others who make the company what it is, but today Marco Mattiacci takes a well-deserved curtain call.

Emilio Gomariz turns OS X animations into art

OS X users are probably familiar with the various animations that accompany their operating system, and while most of us never gave it much thought, one person did – Emilio Gomariz, who decided that there was art to be found in the various animations of OS X, ultimately creating a series of videos and image captures of his desktop which have since been turned into a digital canvas of sorts. As pictured above, Emilio has managed to create a variety of different artwork, ranging from colorful 3D looking cubes, to rainbows, wordings, and even a piece that while abstract, we can't help but think it looks like a rabbit.

What often gets lost amongst all the flying and painting and partying is that Mario, he's just a regular dude. He's a blue red collar plumber just looking to earn an honest days pay, hangout with his lady and occasionally deliver a racing kart to unsuspecting Tennesseans. When the artist formerly known as Jump Man rang the bell of Nathanial Stehley to drop off his West Coast Customs-built ride, we can only imagine what went through his mind - probably something about not eating Toad's relatives.Tim: "Honey, there's a plumber on the porch again."Michael: "Wrong castle, buddy.

When we last checked in with the little bit of speculation there's been on the coming, third-generation Audi TT, rumors said the TT would move upmarket to make MSRP space above for a mid-engined Audi R4. With the R4's future in question, who knows how the TT will play it, but other scuttlebutt says that the TT will be on the MQB platform, will combine first- and second-generation designs and be lighter and more driver oriented. The snappers at CarPix have encountered a TT mule testing in the snowy north and unfortunately, it doesn't give much more away.

Three words: Fastest. Ferrari. Ever. While the "F12berlinetta" F12 Berlinetta may have a name seemingly designed to drive English teachers (and website editors) insane, the 740-horsepower V12 is just plain demenziale. Making 509 lb-ft of torque, it's enough to propel the 3,362-pound car from 0-62 mph in just 3.1 seconds and 0-104 mph in 8.5 seconds, according to Ferrari. Of course, the true measure of any Prancing Horse is the lap around Fiorano, which the Maranello automaker says can be completed in just 1:23.

The Padfone isn't the only thing that Asus is showing at Mobile World Congress. The company has in fact just renamed all its tablets. Gone is the “Eee” moniker – every Asus slate is now called Transformer Pad. What comes after those words is what identifies each individual product.
So, for example, we have the just-renamed Asus Transformer Pad Prime which I'm assuming you already know a lot about. But then there's also the recently unveiled Transformer Prime TF700T, which has finally received a proper name: it's called the Transformer Pad Infinity.

Texas Instruments demonstrates ultrasonic stylus

Texas Instruments demonstrates ultrasonic stylus

Earlier at MWC, Texas Instruments demonstrated a stylus that could be described as a mix between a stylus and a laser pointer, allowing the user to navigate the interface of a tablet over ultrasonic frequencies. This will allow the user to select, navigate, and zoom in and out without having to actually touch the screen unless they wanted/needed to. This is achieved with the use of microphones placed in each of the four corners of the tablet, which will help the tablet pinpoint where exactly on the screen is the stylus pointing at.

SIM2 M.150 projection system spices up your walls

SIM2 has announced the world's first 3D LED Full HD DLP-based Projector for Video Interior Design System: the M.150. For those of you not bothered about the jargon - it is basically a projection system that blends entertainment with interior design. Instead of just having static images like posters and paintings on your walls, the M.150 can spice up how they look by projecting light and images on them. Be it personal photographs, art, mood lighting, or movies - you can turn that drab wall into anything you wish, depending on your mood or the occasion.

Safe to say that Angry Birds is probably one of the most popular mobile phone games to date, and if you're looking to take your Angry Birds gaming experience to the next level, Simon Ford has designed a slingshot that can double up as a USB game controller, literally allowing you to slingshot your way through a horde of pigs. This is achieved through the use of an accelerometer which measures the tilt of the controller, along with a "rubber stretch sensor" that measures how far you pull it back.

While HTC's upcoming One X phone will be packing all the latest hardware inside under a massive 4.7″ display, it looks like folks in the US won't get to enjoy the Tegra 3 goodness of the phone if they decide to go with LTE. According to reports online, the HTC One X will be shipping with a dual-core chip in the US. This is because AT&T and Verizon demand LTE in all its high-end smartphones, and at the moment there are no Tegra 3 LTE configurations. LTE modems would have to be supplied by another company, and right now Qualcomm is the leading provider of such chips.
