Apple releases iOS 4.3.4

Apple has just pushed a new version of iOS, 4.3.4 (4.2.9 for the Verizon CDMA iPhone), and it looks to have “fixed” the PDF exploit that has been so notoriously exploited lately. In a summary of what's changed, Apple indicates that a fix has been applied that will prevent “arbitrary code execution” when viewing a “maliciously crafted PDF”.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Within images get leaked

We've known for quite a while that the Samsung Galaxy S II was headed to the big US carriers. It was pretty obvious just from looking at the original Galaxy S and its distribution stateside, but we also got a leak stating as much back in May. As with its predecessor, the Galaxy S II would also get a different name on each carrier. Sprint's Samsung Galaxy Within will be one of those. And it may be released later this month, if a previous rumor is to be believed. Today's leak certainly gives credence to the fact that the Within is coming soon.

This is my next allegedly received a couple pictures of that device.

64 GB Acer Iconia Tab A501 for AT&T in the works

The 10.1-inch Acer Iconia Tab Android-powered tablet comes in two versions, the A500 which is Wi-Fi-only, and the A501, which also features mobile data connectivity. The most widely spread internal storage capacity for both models is 32 GB, but we recently saw a 16 GB model launch in the UK. And now it looks like Acer is prepping to add yet another storage capacity option, to the A501 at least. An Acer Iconia Tab A501 with 64 GB of storage has recently passed through the FCC.

HP Pre 3 may get a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor (at least in the UK)

The HP Pre 3 was announced all the way back in February, yet unlike the HP TouchPad and the HP Veer that were also announced at the same time, HP's flagship smartphone still isn't available anywhere. In the UK, we heard that it would launch on July 8, but that obviously hasn't happened and there were rumors of a delay until the end of this month. Now we know what the cause of that delay may be. It turns out that an important spec has now changed, at least according to HP's own product listing for the Pre 3 in the UK.

Samsung Galaxy S II is heading into space, LIVE

Samsung is right this very moment sending one of its Galaxy S II phones up into orbit, by tethering it to a space balloon and setting it free. At the time of writing, the S II is just over 23km above the planet and relaying back live video (of a sort). It's all very exciting. There's an interactive web thing charting the balloon's progress and height online here, which promises to relay select tweets and possibly display them on the phone screen. WHILE IN SPACE! Canon IXY 32S Digital Camera With Touch Shutter Function

Canon has introduced a new digital camera ‘IXY 32S' for the Japanese market, which is basically an updated version of its IXY 31S (IXUS 310 HS/ELPH 500 HS). Unlike its predecessor, this new model is equipped with a new Touch Shutter function, allowing users to determine the ideal timing in which to capture a photo while viewing the scene on the camera's viewing monitor. As for the rest of the specs, it sports a 12.1-megapixel CMOS image sensor, a 24mm ultra wide-angle lens, a 4.4x optical zoom lens, a 3.2-inch Clear Live LCD T monitor, Canon's DIGIC 4 image processor and 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities (24fps).

Images of what are claimed to be parts from an unreleased third-generation Apple iPad have been posted on the Web by Taiwanese tech site Apple.pro. The site has a history of accessing authentic parts from China-based Apple product manufacturers and publishing images of the parts before the related devices are made official by Apple. The part obtained in this instance is a new connector cable with a tip that is white in color, thus leading Apple.pro to speculate that the new iPad 3 will launch in both black and white like the current iPad 2 model.

Google Maps now includes live traffic info for Europe

Google Maps users in 13 lucky European countries will get to experience the convenience of having live traffic reports starting this week. Google has announced that it will be bringing its informative live traffic feature to thirteen countries in Europe. With live traffic, users will be able to gauge how congested a road is before they even embark on their journey, and they'll even be able to use Google Maps to locate a route that can take them around impassable traffic jams.

Someone managed to be a screen ninja for the day, sending Kotaku an image of what could very well be the replacement model for the 160GB PlayStation 3. In this image are wordings of rumored replacement model, known only as the “K” chassis. What makes the K chassis so different from current models would be to have customers make compulsory use of an HDMI cable to play a game or enjoy a Full HD movie. To put it in a nutshell, component out will no longer be part of the game, leaving HDMI as the only avenue to get your High Definition viewing fix.

The Toyota Group's Toyota Marketing Japan in collaboration with Evangelion and the town of Hakone hosted an event in which the former Sengokuhara Middle School in Hakone was made to resemble the Tokyo-3 No. 1 Middle School attended by Evangelion lead character Shinji Ikari and his companions. Hakone was used as inspiration for a lot of the locations in Evangelion. The event commemorated the Toyota Prius PHV (Plug-in Hybrid) becoming certified as the official car of NERV in the animated film Evangelion 2.0.

BlackBerry Internet Service 4.1 coming October 8th

To some it's just a point release, but to others it's much, much more. If the leaked documentation gathered by N4BB.com is correct, the 4.1 release of BlackBerry Internet Service is coming down the pike, due abroad on September 10th and in the US October 8th. Rumor: Apple Working on iPad ‘HD' With Retina

Apple's made a pretty big deal about its Retina Display for the iPhone 4 when it launched a year ago, but its 300+ dpi (326 dpi on the iPhone 4, to be exact) technology has yet to hit anything else other than the corresponding iPod touch. It was a little disappointing when the iPad 2 featured the same 1024×768 resolution as the original iPad, but now word is that Apple is prepping an iPad “HD” that will feature four times the resolution at 2048 x 1536. This is My Next‘s source says that the iPad HD may launch this fall alongside a professional app such as Final Cut or Aperture.

HP Possibly Releasing Ultrabooks This Summer

While the details are scarce at this point, Taiwan-based part and component suppliers claim that HP will actually be the first to produce a mobile PC based on Intel's “ultrabook” concept, beating the Asus UX21 (seen right) to the market. The HP-branded ultrabooks will be manufactured by Foxconn and may even arrive sometime this summer. According to unnamed sources, HP's upcoming ultra-slim notebooks will be packed with Intel's 1.7 GHz Core i7-2637M and 1.8 GHz Core i7-2677M dual-core processors. Windows 7 will also be the OS of choice.

Samsung to create the next Nexus phone?

Everybody is trying to guess what the Nexus phone will be, or who is going to create it. With most of the leading Android manufacturers already given a chance to create a flagship Android device there were rumors about LG being the ones to create the next Nexus phone. However, according to a recent tweet from Samsung Romania, it looks like Samsung has gotten the gig again. Now we're not sure why Samsung chose to reveal the phone through Twitter, or whether the tweets mean anything, but if they are to be believed, production on the new Nexus will start later this year.

Ballmer: Windows Phone Mango handsets are “coming out this Christmas”

New devices running Windows Phone Mango, Microsoft's refreshed OS that should "push the boundaries of the smartphone experience around communications, apps and the Internet", might not debut as soon as you'd expect. Back in May, when the new platform was announced, Microsoft said that it would be available "this fall.". However, speaking at a Microsoft event (Imagine Cup 2011) recently, Steve Ballmer didn't use "fall" when discussing about the arrival of the second generation of Windows Phone handsets. He only said that they're "coming out this Christmas."

T-Mobile UK finally launches the HTC Sensation

As people all over the world are waiting patiently for the HTC Sensation, it looks like T-Mobile UK users will be able to get their hands on the dual core Android, for No pounds up front on a 40 pound a month 2year contract. Like many other carriers worldwide, we are also going to see the Sensation go directly up against the Samsung Galaxy S II. The Sensation 4G  launched about a month ago on T-Mobile in the states, and there's a lot of hype starting to build locally, for the launch in Australia.
