Next Nissan Rogue flaunts its new look

Next Nissan Rogue flaunts its new look

Remember last April, when Nissan told us it would be launching five new models over the course of 15 months. Well, we've seen the Altima, Pathfinder, Sentra and Versa Note, so that magical fifth model has to be the new Rogue, which our spy photographers recently caught testing. Despite looking like a hodge-podge of black duct tape and garbage bags, we can clearly see that the new Rogue takes a lot of its styling cues from the Hi-Cross concept that Nissan showed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

ZTE Open Firefox OS Phone Hits The FCC

Right now, most folks out there would be juggling between iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8 and of course, BlackBerry as the mobile operating systems of choice, although there are some of the more queer ones such as Tizen from Samsung, and one of the more recent players, the Firefox OS. Having said that, the ZTE Open will be one of the first few Firefox OS-powered devices to arrive, and it has already hit the FCC at the moment.

Alleged Press Shots Of Samsung Galaxy NX Camera Leaked

Alleged Press Shots Of Samsung Galaxy NX Camera Leaked

Earlier today we picked up on a purported leaked image of what supposedly is Samsung's Galaxy NX camera. The Korean manufacturer has already said that it will release Galaxy Camera 2 at its 20th June press event. We're increasingly hearing rumors that perhaps the company will actually unveil two Android powered cameras, one of which will be the Samsung Galaxy NX (EK-GN120). These are purported press shots, so the images that you see here might very well be the work of a talented designer. Or they could be renders of the official product images, a bit too soon to be certain right now.

Yahoo Purchases Rondee, A Conference Call Startup

Yahoo might be losing out to Microsoft in their search market share in the US, but this does not mean that the company is down and out. No sir, apparently, Yahoo still has their fair share of cash reserves jingling around in their pockets, so much so that they have recently picked up a conference call startup known as Rondee.

Google Blogger For Android Updated

The folks over at Google must have taken a quick grasp of their software inventory when they realized that it has been a good seven months ever since Google decided to update their Blogger app. Ah well, as the saying goes, better late than never, as the most recent version of the app would be able to play nice with tablets this time around, thanks to a larger interface that was specially tailored to cater with such a device category. Not only that, the kind of improvements that are introduced to the compose screen ought to make churning out posts on your tablet a whole lot easier and more convenient.

WhatsApp: 27 Billion Messages A Day And Counting

WhatsApp: 27 Billion Messages A Day And Counting

Just how popular is WhatsApp, so much so that we have read about how SMS revenues for mobile operators have started to plummet in smartphone dominant markets, considering how most folks pay a flat fee for their data plans. Well, it is so popular that WhatsApp processes up to 27 billion messages over the course of 24 hours. This is a huge jump especially when you consider how its previous best stood at a relatively fewer 18 billion messages on the last day of last year. Out of the 27 billion messages, 10 billion of these were inbound from WhatsApp users, with 17 billion messages received.

Google sending mystery package to Glass Explorers - what's inside?

It looks like Google's being a bit generous to those who decided to spend $1,500 to be among the first to own a pair of Google Glass. Reports are flying in from several Glass Explorers with UPS accounts that shipment notifications are popping up from “GOOGLE X.” Unfortunately the shipment information did not include the weight of the package so it's tough to say what, exactly, this could be. We imagine it's some sort of care package — something to say “thanks for supporting us,” or something to that effect.

Japanese Robots: On DARPA, SCHAFT, and the Peace Constitution (and bad reporting)

One would assume Japan's impressive array of supertech humanoid robots would swarm the inspired-by-Fukushima DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC), but Tokyo University spin-off SCHAFT Robotics is it. DARPA's militariness and Japan's Peace Constitution complicate. Oh, and way-overblown gee-whiz coverage of the DRC isn't helping.

Verizon Pulls Samsung Galaxy S3 Update Due To Connectivity Issues

Verizon Pulls Samsung Galaxy S3 Update Due To Connectivity Issues

Verizon owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 are in for a bit of bad news as it seems that the latest update for the phone, VRBMD3, which would have brought features like Multi Window to the phone, has been pulled by Verizon. The good news is that for those who haven't updated yet, you guys are safe because when Verizon released the update, almost immediately there were reports that the update caused a bit of problem for Galaxy S3 owners. An example would be the loss of 4G LTE connectivity with no way of making it return, leading to slow connection speeds and battery drain.

Blackberry Q5 Stops By The FCC With AT&T Radios

Back in May, Blackberry announced the Blackberry Q5, a Blackberry 10 device with a physical QWERTY keyboard, albeit a lower-end version of the Blackberry Q10 with a plastic body and a smaller display. The device is expected to be made available to Blackberry's carrier partners as early as summer, with Sprint having the possibility of being one of those partners, although a recent FCC sighting might suggest otherwise. The Blackberry Q5 was spotted recently at the FCC and the model that made it through the FCC sported radio bands that would make it compatible with AT&T's 3G network.

Switched On: PNDs try to find their way

Switched On: PNDs try to find their way

It's helpful to have this information pushed to you rather than having to query it, but the whole system would greatly benefit from voice control instead of the soft "dial" control at the top of the Magellan user interface. In fact, being able to have it spoken back from a prompt would be even more ideal in place of sacrificing navigation screen real estate. Failing that, the dial should be a physical control; right now the only button on the device's face is a capacitive home button on the top-left corner of the display.
