Suzuki Authentics Concept is genuine but drab

Suzuki Authentics Concept is genuine but drab

Looks can certainly be deceiving. Have a glance at this new Suzuki Authentics concept, for example – we were told that this would, essentially, be a proper sedan version of the new SX4, but our folks on the ground in Shanghai tell us it's actually much larger. Like, bigger than the Kizashi. (Hey, remember the Kizashi?).
Regardless, Suzuki says that the Authentics concept previews a C-segment vehicle for the Chinese market. A good move, too, since that segment has the highest volume in the Chinese market.

Icona Vulcano does a sultry striptease in Shanghai

Perhaps Icona didn't get the message that it's safe to reveal the entirety of the Vulcano now that the Shanghai Motor Show is under way, but we'll enjoy the half we can see and admit that we didn't expect to like it as much as we do. There's some Lexus LFA DNA in the face, some Ferrari 599 and F12 Berlinetta in the profile and a backside we've never seen before; the entire package manages a note all its own. At least, with the half we can see.

Facebook Updates Windows Phone App To Fix Issues

Facebook Updates Windows Phone App To Fix Issues

It was earlier today when we brought you word that the Facebook Windows Phone 8 app certainly has issues of its own that it is currently struggling with, where it affected users who ran version 4.2.0.0 of the app, while those who were using the Windows Phone 7.x version 2.7.0.0 of the app were exempt from such headaches. Well, we are pleased to say that the turnaround time taken to "fix" this particular issue has been rather quick, where a latest updated release has enabled it to fix a bug that users have been complaining about.

Google's Q1 raked in $14 billion, but Motorola still leaking money

Google has just announced its operating numbers for the first quarter of 2013. The company beat market expectations, of course, as it was able to pull in about $14 billion in revenue, up 31% year-on-year. Of that, the company was able to pocket about $3.39 billion, a 16% increase year-on-year, which adds to the total of $50.1 billion cash and liquid assets Google has. That's a whole lot of dough coming from a lot of different areas, but where that money isn't coming from is Google's $12.5 billion best friend Motorola Mobility.

Evil Controllers' Vision line adds customization and lengthy battery life, we go hands-on

As the Vision controller retains so much of the 360 gamepad's internals, you'll need a wireless dongle to get it working on a PC - a simple charging wire will not enable it for use on anything that doesn't accept Microsoft's wireless signal. But then, if you're buying this, you're probably into console games enough that we don't have to warn you about such things, right. Should you wish to grab your own, the backplate can be purchased as a standalone that you install yourself, or it can be purchased with or without logos.

Followup to LG Optimus G hinted for Q3 release, stays with 5-inch display

The LG Optimus G Pro, which is likely to be announced for US release at a May 1st press event, was always intended as an iterative release. It's specs were a decent upgrade over the Optimus G and the phone featured a larger 5.5-inch display, but a true flagship followup it was not. Now LG is teasing the real sequel for a Q3 2013 release. The phone, which will be released globally and could very well be known as the LG Optimus G2, was called “something different and something unique” by Won Kim, who leads the mobile marketing team from LG's headquarters in Seoul.

Toshiba KIRAbook hands-on (video)

Toshiba KIRAbook hands-on (video)

Where else to start but with that WQHD display. The minute we saw it, we knew this wasn't your garden-variety 1,366 x 768 panel. Everything is sharper - even the lettering on the Start Menu - though we would have just as easily assumed this was a 1,920 x 1,080 panel. Unfortunately, though, as much care as Toshiba otherwise put into the design, it clearly skimped on the viewing angles. (It has some unspecified wide-viewing-angle technology that's different from IPS.) In fact, we had a bit of trouble photographing the laptop head-on, what with all the screen glare.

The FedEx lady just stopped by my house, dropping off the official HTC Double Dip Hard Shell case for the HTC One. This is one of a few official OEM accessories unveiled for the HTC One at their New York press event a few weeks back and ever since the death of my Nexus 4, I've been dying to get my hands on some protection for my One. Because I'm the owner of many other official HTC accessories, I kinda had an idea of what to expect. This isn't your generic, run of the mill smartphone accessory from eBay.

HAPIfork Starts Crowdfunding On Kickstarter

We've talked about the HAPIfork project during CES 2013, and it seems like it is ready for the next step since its team has started seeking funding through Kickstarter after a rather successful awareness campaign. Hapilabs, the company behind this concept is seeing $100,000 from the public, which represents about 1000 prospect customers for this smart fork. Given that contributions range from $89 (the minimum to receive the product) to $1500, this looks very doable, but this will be the ultimate test which shows if the initial impression can now be converted to real user intent.

Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept crossover leaked ahead of Shanghai debut

With just a few days left before the start of the Shanghai Motor Show, images of the Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept compact crossover have emerged online. The little 'ute is based on the small A-Class hatchback, and though it shares an identical wheelbase, is larger in every other dimension. Looking like a rough-and-tumble five-door hatchback on the tippy toes of its 20-inch wheels, the GLA is most certainly destined for production in a toned down form that will borrow many bits and pieces from other cars based on this platform like the aforementioned A-Class and the CLA-Class sedan.

Microsoft, one of the major names worldwide where software is concerned, has stumbled upon a rather interesting discovery. First of all, a little context to help us get started off on the right footing. Microsoft does have their own anti-virus solution on the computer, where some have deemed to be added on as an afterthought since it is perceived to be nowhere near the capability of other third-party programs, but this does not mean the bunch of Microsoft researchers are no good.

A year later and nobody outside of Google has the actual Glass hardware. Great news.

Cinquecento's Electrifying One-Price Strategy Is A Gas. America's electric vehicle segment is getting crowded, but sales remain tiny compared to the overall market. Listening to EV pitchmen, a key phrase heard over and over is "no compromises." This particular EV, the seller says, offers all* the things you want in a car, without the gasoline and without compromises. That asterisk thing? Well, sure, the electric vehicle paradigm requires you rethink the "one car that does everything" mentality, but once that's out of the way, there are no compromises here.

Chinese Scammers Return Fake Apple Components, Receives Genuine Parts And Made Their Own iPhones

Chinese Scammers Return Fake Apple Components, Receives Genuine Parts And Made Their Own iPhones

Apple has a pretty decent warranty system setup where a phone damaged under warranty will net you a new (refurbished) phone, no questions asked. Of course there are certain requirements needed to be met, but for simple hardware faults such as home/lock button malfunctioning, it's a relatively simple process. Now it seems that an electronics store in China has been somewhat abusing Apple's policy and have been running a scam in which they return fake phones back to Apple, and in return receive genuine components from which they will build and sell real iPhones. According to the report, five employees at the shop have since been arrested.

Considering that technology sometimes destroys nature in order for it to progress, it's interesting to hear that sometimes nature can get the better of technology as is with the case of UK carrier Vodafone. The carrier has been forced to disable one of its cell towers in the city of Southampton after a peregrine falcon has decided to choose that particular area for its nest. With the bird enjoying protected status and cannot be disturbed, engineers were not able to do anything, leaving Vodafone to temporarily abandon that particular cell tower for now.

Fiat 500e Arriving In California This Summer

When it comes to electronic rides, you know for sure that electric powered cars are the way to go where the future is concerned, as it cuts down on most of the environmental problems where burning fossil fuels are concerned, not to mention being a whole lot more quiet and efficient on the road. The thing is, do not expect high performance electric cars to be readily available to the masses at a relatively low price if you want to get your adrenaline pumping, and there is also the issue of range. Folks living in California will have the 2013 Fiat 500e to look forward to later this summer.

So says he. While speaking with reporters, Sebastian Vettel said he would probably disobey team orders again if those orders included instructions not to challenge his teammate Mark Webber. As you may recollect, Vettel found himself in hot water after he passed Webber at the Malaysian Grand Prix to take the win. Vettel later apologized for his actions, saying, "I messed up." Apparently being sorry only goes so far.
