eBay Find of the Day: 1987 Glenfrome Facet hides its Land Rover identity well

eBay Find of the Day: 1987 Glenfrome Facet hides its Land Rover identity well

You'll get to keep your Car Guy membership card even if you haven't heard of Glenfrome of England. The company was founded in the 1970s and made some noise in the 1980s with rebodied Land Rover Range Rover creations that were, to be charitable, weird as hell. The mid-Eighties marked out a high-water point for the coachbuilders, as Glenfrome turned out six-door limos, open-backed and stair-equipped versions for reviewing military exercises (no kidding) and the utterly inscrutable Glenfrome Facet that you see before you. Nothing makes sense about this eBay Motors listing for a 1987 Glenfrome Facet Convertible. Nothing.

Sensory Acumen's Game Skunk Will Help You Smell Your Game In The Future

With the graphics in modern games being so realistic, and with a decent audio setup, you might almost feel like you're "there", but what are the other ways that one might go about trying to make the gaming experience more immersive. Well according to the folks at Kotaku, they stumbled upon a device at GDC 2013 made by Sensory Acumen. So what does this device do. Dubbed the rather odd and foreboding "Game Skunk", what this device does is release smells, presumably related to the game that you are playing.

Amazon's Cloud Accounts Carry Unsecured Data

Security can be said to be of paramount importance when it comes to your personal data and private information, and when you decide to upload stuff to the cloud, you would surely be taking a risk that there is a remote possibility of a hack or security breach by outsiders. Of course, it does not help that it has been discovered that when probed Amazon's S3 servers which hosts their cloud, offers nearly 2,000 unique S3 "buckets" that were left open to the public, and if translated to plain English, these "buckets" carry unsecured passwords, photos and other personal files.

Final Fantasy V Coming To iOS Tomorrow

Final Fantasy V Coming To iOS Tomorrow

We've been expecting Final Fantasy V to be made available onto iOS some time this month, and seeing how this is the final week of March, there's no better time for the game to be released than this week. Considering the game just made itself available in the New Zealand App Store, that pretty much guarantees the game will be made available in the U.S. App Store later this evening. Square Enix originally announced Final Fantasy V would be made available only in Japan, but seeing how many fans of the series, as well as this specific title, in the U.S., we had a feeling they'd bring it to the U.S.

2014 VW Golf brings storied hatchback's seventh generation to US

2014 VW Golf brings storied hatchback's seventh generation to US

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf in US-specification officially debuts at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The new model is the first VW in the States to ride on the company's MQB architecture, and as such, it makes use of plenty of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel to keep weight down. All told, the new shell is 51 pounds lighter than the outgoing generation, despite the fact that the finished car is a full 2.2 inches longer and .5 inches wider than the 2013 model. Buyers can expect to find a base model powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (blue car above) with 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.

2014 Kia Soul totally redesigned, now bigger and more refined

The 2014 Kia Soul has been unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show, and the all-new five-door box-on-wheels offers up nearly an extra inch of wheelbase and a track that's wider by .6 inches. The changes offer up a bit more space indoors, and since overall height has remained the same, the Soul now looks a bit less top heavy than before. A wider rear hatch opening also makes loading and unloading cargo easier. Indoors, the 2014 Soul offers a substantially revised cabin with more soft-touch materials, and leather seats are now on the option sheet.

Internet Slows Down After History's Biggest Cyber Attack

Internet Slows Down After History's Biggest Cyber Attack

Is it possible to experience a "traffic jam" on the anecdotal information superhighway. The simple answer, yes. I noticed it around 9 hours ago, but did not give too much thought into it, thinking that my local ISP's underwater cable somewhere is experiencing issues as normal, but it seems that there is more than meets the eye. The Internet has apparently slowed down due to what security experts have deemed to be the biggest cyber-attack ever experienced in the short history of the Internet.

Microsoft's Touch Cover Patent Granted

Microsoft's Touch Cover Patent Granted

Microsoft has finally picked up a patent for their Microsoft Touch Cover, thanks to the good people over at the US Patent and Trademark Office who were the ones who granted this particular patent. If one were to be more specific, it would boil down to Microsoft's design of the Touch Cover itself that picked up this particular patent, alongside the design that makes up the magnetic base for the cover that enables it to quickly and tightly hook up the Surface tablet to itself.

2014 Jeep Cherokee flaunts its new contemporary curves

Only slightly more than one month ago, undisguised (and less-than-flattering) shots of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee were leaked online. Later that day, in an effort to suppress the uprising, Jeep countered with its own official photography offering us much clearer front and three-quarter views. We've been left to digest those pictures for weeks.

Jay Leno chats with Magnus Walker about his 1972 Porsche 911 72STR

Jay Leno chats with Magnus Walker about his 1972 Porsche 911 72STR

Magnus Walker has stopped by the Big Dog Garage again to pay Jay Leno a visit in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage. This time, the Porsche builder brought along his 1972 911 72STR 002. Walker calls the machine his best build to date, and the car is a rolling "best of" from Porsches past, rocking some of the more attractive elements pulled from a wide arc of 911 model years. Of course, the machine also wears a few signature Walker touches, including flush-mount turning indicators, a center-hood fuel filler and plenty of louver work.
Unlike some of Walker's other creations, the 72STR 002 is clean enough to lick.

2014 Ford Fiesta ST

Concentrated ST Formula Proves Just As Potent. I'm not the jealous type. usually. But I will fully admit to being somewhat of a Pouty Polly when I read executive editor Chris Paukert's report after driving the then-new 2013 Ford Focus ST through the impossibly pretty southern French Alps region last June. I feel like a broken record saying this yet again, but hot hatchbacks hold a special place in my heart.

Smartphones Can Now Monitor Your Blood Courtesy Of New Implant

Smartphones Can Now Monitor Your Blood Courtesy Of New Implant

We use our smartphones for doing a number of things. Making calls, checking up on emails and social networks are some of the major uses of such a device. They're now able to monitor our blood and warn us if we're about to have an heart attack, all thanks to a new implant. A team based at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland have developed this new 14mm implant, the smallest in the world, and it monitors crucial things in blood such as ATP, glucose levels, proteins, and lactate during periods of rest as well as activity.
The implant will transmit data to the smartphone by using Bluetooth.

Kia confirms Cub 'four-door coupe' concept for Seoul

Kia confirms Cub 'four-door coupe' concept for Seoul

Kia has announced it is headed to the Seoul Motor Show with a new sedan concept. Details are still scarce, but the Kia CUB Concept should be small, at under 13 feet long and come with coupe-like proportions. Kia wants the vehicle to "appeal to trend-setting urban dwellers," a notoriously car-hungry market. The automaker says the Cub has a cheerful face decorated with two-point LED headlamps just like those found on the Quoris flagship, but the teaser image above looks a bit more sinister than happy to us.

CyanogenMod Founder Leaves Samsung, Praises Galaxy S4 On His Way Out

A couple of years ago, CyanogenMod founder, Steve Kondik, was hired by Samsung to help them with their Android smartphones. However in a recent post on Kondik's Google+ page, it was revealed that he has left Samsung, and in the process he has decided to share some of his experience. He did not state the reason why he left, but according to his response to the question posed by Android Police, he claims that he left on amicable terms and that there wasn't any drama like some are probably thinking. He stated that Samsung "was great" and he wanted to do something new.

Alleged iPhone 5S Components Surface

We guess it wouldn't be a complete shocker if Apple went ahead and announced an iPhone 5S later this year. After all that seems to be Apple's habit of releasing products based on previous releases, so there's no reason to believe this year will be any different. In any case the folks at Nowhereelse.fr have stumbled across several components from Japanese vendor, Moumantai, that allegedly belong to the iPhone 5S. These components include the home button, the vibration mechanism and the volume/mute cable.

Large car market withering away... will it survive?

Large car market withering away... will it survive?

To look at automakers' lineups these days, it would appear that America's large car market is enjoying something of a resurgence. After all, Chevrolet has invested in a new Impala, Toyota has its new Avalon, Hyundai fielded an all-new Azera for 2012, and Nissan is presently working on a next-generation Maxima. Yet, according to the industry forecasters at Polk, the market for mainstream big sedans is cratering. According to Polk's data, the large mainstream sedan segment has plunged from a 5.8-percent share of the US car market in 2008 to just 3.5 percent in 2012.
