Google and ASUS to debut Nexus tablet at Google I/O next month? [Rumor]

Just yesterday, we reported that according to a post from DigiTimes, it seems that Google and ASUS' Android collaboration for a Nexus tablet is expected to start shipping in June, and word has it that it will cost $149. Corroborating those claims are the folks from Techno Buffalo who claims that one of their "trusted sources" has informed that that the tablet will indeed be arriving in June and will be unveiled at Google I/O which will be taking place towards the end of June. Supposedly the Nexus tablet will based off NVIDIA's "Kai" reference design which manages to pack a quad-core Tegra-3 processor into an affordable device.

Intel funnels $40 million into global network of research laboratories

Like any tech company worth its weight in silicon, Intel puts plenty of cash into research, often partnering with outside labs and schools that are less concerned with turning every project into a multi-billion dollar product. After throwing $30 million at Carnegie Mellon last year to open two new labs, Chipzilla is investing $40 million more in a global network of university research centers. Over the next five years that money will be rolled out to what the company is calling, Intel Collaborative Research Institutes (ICRI).

Watch the McLaren MP4-12C hit the dunes of Abu Dhabi

The Middle East is an enormously vital market for McLaren, and not just because its oil barons have the cash to buy as many MP4-12C supercars as they and every member of their family could possibly want. While the team has only won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix once and has yet to do the same at the Bahrain Grand Prix – the only two in the region (discounting Turkey), the company is part owned by Saudi businessman Mansour Ojjeh, and another part by the royal family of Bahrain. Little wonder, then, that the upstart McLaren Automotive is setting up no fewer than six dealerships in the Middle East, the first of which has just opened its doors.

Tegra Grey will fuse Tegra and LTE in 2013

At the NVIDIA Investors day, Mike Rayfield (General Manager, Mobile Business unit) has presented what the future of Tegra was going to be. You may have noticed that NVIDIA's current Icera i410 LTE modem has been approved by AT&T, but the future is of course the “integration” of LTE (and LTE next, says NVIDIA) into the Tegra chips. This will effectively happen with the upcoming Tegra chipร‚ code-namedร‚ ”Grey”. Grey has been on NVIDIA's roadmap for some time, but this is the first time that NVIDIA confirmed that it will be the chip that integrates the programmable modem technology that was acquired with Icera.

The Private Rocker

The Private Rocker

Privacy has become quite a rare luxury nowadays. With people getting more and more connected, it can be quite hard to find that valuable private time. That's why people may want to get it as much as they could. People at the office may be able to get some private relaxation time during breaks by going into a corner and sitting on the Private Rocker.
The Private Rocker is a unique chair concept that may offer some semblance or brief privacy for people looking for some valuable tranquil time. The rocking chair is designed by Kyle Fleet, a student of Cranbrook Academy of Art, in collaboration with Herman Miller.

It's still way too early for anyone to start ditching their existing broadband connections, but it looks like a few more communities in the US will be getting some ultra high-speed broadband networks to call their own. Ohio-based Gigabit Squared announced today that it's secured $200 million in funding to bring gigabit-speed networks to up to six different communities - communities that have unfortunately not yet been named. What we do know is that the communities will all be ones centered around research universities, which themselves will be partners in the Gig.U initiative (an effort that has already enlisted more than 30 institutions).

A developer claiming to be employed by Ubisoft Milan has dumped a new load of Nintendo Wii U details including possible pricing and a release date. With E3 2012 taking place in mere weeks, it's no surprise that details surrounding some of the upcoming announcements are starting to find their way onto the Internet. But what's surprising is that this specific report was spilled by a supposed developer at Ubisoft Milan who undoubtedly is under NDA, but chose to dump system specs, pricing and availability of the Nintendo Wii U anyway. For starters, take all of these as mere rumors until the official news arrives in two weeks.

Buffalo shows SSDs with MRAM Cache

Typically, SSDs use flash as cache memory as opposed to the much faster DRAM, but Buffalo says that MRAM can bridge the gap between NAND flash and DRAM and provide a much better cache solution as a result. Flash is used today as it has non-volatile properties and does not lose its content like DRAM when the power is cut off. MRAM, which is similar to DRAM structure, is also a non-volatile memory technology, but faster than flash. The technology has been in development for more than a decade.
