Nokia Android prototype reportedly is still into production

Last week the New York Times revealed that Nokia has indeed worked on an Android smartphone as an alternative to the Microsoft partnership prior to the acquisition announcement. As it turns out, the Finns haven't completely scraped the Android project and are still working on an Android smartphone. The report comes from a Weibo account CTechnology, which has generally been a reputable source of leaks from China.

Amazon Lockers Removed From Staples And RadioShack Stores

Amazon Lockers Removed From Staples And RadioShack Stores

There is this particular saying, keep your friends close, and your enemies, closer. I suppose that makes sense since it would bode you well to know just what the heck is your nemesis up to. However, the folks over at Staples as well as RadioShack decided otherwise – and with good sense, too, to remove all Amazon Lockers that are currently placed in their stores. It does amaze me as to why no one thought about this before, not to place Amazon Lockers, one of your toughest competitors in the market, within the confines of your own stores.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 now available for pre-order, $200 down and $21 a month

True to T-Mobile's press release that was sent out a few days ago, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is now officially up for pre-order online. The latest Samsung's phablet (hey, the word is in the dictionary now), the leather-bound Note 3 will set customers back a cool $200 initially, with $21 monthly payments spanning across 24 months. Of course, you could always just scrounge up some change from your couch cushions and pay the full $704 straight up, but you'll need to do a lot of digging. Keep in mind that this is an actual honest to goodness pre-order, not some kind of generic signup page.

Microsoft Store Offers Free Wireless Charging Cover For Lumia 925

If you're planning on picking up the Nokia Lumia 925, you might to think about hitting up the Microsoft Store instead of your carrier. The reason is because as you can see from the screenshot above, the Microsoft Store will offering the handset on contract via AT&T or T-Mobile, but at the same time will throw in a free wireless charging case for those of you who enjoy the wireless charging capability of your phone. The case is valued at $39 and the phone itself is priced starting at $99 along with a two-year contract from either carrier.

Verizon gives us more details on Nexus 7 (2013) LTE certification process, says testing almost complete

Yesterday, the internet was in a tizzy over Verizon's refusal to activate the newly purchased Nexus 7 (2013) LTEs on their network. For many, this didn't make much sense on the surface (especially given the deal they made with the FCC in which they promised “open access” to their 700MHz spectrum), but Verizon has taken to their blog to help clear the air. First up, while the Nexus 7 LTE isn't currently “Verizon certified”, the device was entered into Verizon's certification process back in August.

Tesla To Build Car With "Auto-Pilot" Mode In Next Three Years

Tesla has decided to enter into the self-driving car race, after various companies such as Google and Nissan have already detailed their plans. The company is going to produce a car that is capable of running on “auto-pilot” within the next three years. According to Tesla's CEO Elon Musk, the system will take over 90 percent of the control of the car, adding that it would take longer for fully autonomous cars to be developed. Musk says that they will develop the technology in-house.

T-Mobile Ad Draws Flak Over Alleged False Claims

T-Mobile Ad Draws Flak Over Alleged False Claims

It seems that the folks over at T-Mobile seem to have run into a little bit of an issue here, as they have now caught the attention of folks over from the National Advertising Division. The National Advertising Division happen to be a group which monitors advertising on behalf of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, concerning some of its more recent advertisements that have been directed at AT&T. The NAD (as they are known in short) are not too happy with a bunch of T-Mobile's claims concerning AT&T's network in its ads, where one of them claimed that T-Mobile's network delivers 50% additional bandwidth compared to AT&T.

Self-Regenerating Polymer Could Result In Regenerative Gadgets

The fabled 'healing factor' that many of us wish we had to remain perpetually in the prime of our lives, not to mention being able to be a general bad-ass like Wolverine without the fear of death (although, it must be noted, that the pain itself is very real). Well, don't you wish that the same can be said of your modern day consumer electronics devices. Remember all those fragile tablets and smartphones that are unable to withstand a drop or two on concrete. If only they were made out of stronger material, and this is what scientists at the CIDETEC Center for Electrochemical Technologies in Spain have done.

HTC One gold edition built by Gold Genie goes up for pre-order

The gold-colored shells of HTC One appeared in China a few days ago and we all thought that the Taiwanese manufacturer was preparing a "gold" edition of its flagship smartphone. Apparently, the HTC One in gold is indeed coming, but the device will not be sold officially by HTC. HTC One gold is actually a custom made device by Gold Genie, a company that is known for gold plating popular gadgets and smartphones. The firm will also have a platinum and rose gold edition of the HTC One.

HTC One "gold" is a genuine HTC product with the addition of 24-carat gold on the outer layer of its design.

This Modified SUV Puts Backseat Drivers In Control Of The Vehicle

This Modified SUV Puts Backseat Drivers In Control Of The Vehicle

We know how challenging driving can be for most people as we're distracted by our smartphones, our extremely loud radios and our significant other gabbing about his or her work day. But the worst distraction is the backseat driver, which seems to know more about anything than anyone else in the vehicle. Since backseat drivers think they know so much, this modification that puts them in control of the vehicle seems like the most logical way to get to your destination in as little time as possible. King of Customs in Dubai modified a 2008 Nissan Patrol SUV so the driver can drive around town sitting from the back seat.

Pininfarina looks backward to move forward

Times have been tough for European coachbuilders. Major automakers that once turned to these contract manufacturers for small production runs have since developed the capability to produce in scale. And before the coachbuilders could regroup, the recession hit, and the economy in Europe is still recovering. That's how Volkswagen ended up taking over both Giugiaro and Karmann, and Fiat absorbed the manufacturing arm of Bertone. Ford long ago gobbled up Vignale and Ghia.

Sailfish OS Now Supports Android Apps Officially

In April this year, we managed to check out a demonstration of the Sailfish mobile operating system, spending some hands-on time with it, while a month later, the folks over at Jolla did announce their first Sailfish OS powered smartphone. Just a little bit of context before we continue, Sailfish OS happens to be a Linux-based mobile operating system which is the "spiritual successor" of the abandoned MeeGo project, and to make things more approachable and of course, to stoke the interest of end users, it is now official that the Sailfish OS is full well capable of supporting Android apps.

Mophie Juice Pack Universal Powerstation Pro review

Mophie Juice Pack Universal Powerstation Pro review

If a superhero needed a portable charger to make sure that he (or she) always had backup power for his (or her) smartphone and gadgets, I imagine the Mophie Juice Pack Universal Powerstation Pro would be their go-to charger of choice.  With rugged looks and a rock-solid feel the Powerstation Pro is intimidating just to look at, but would the performance be something that even Superman could be proud of.  Let's find out. Initial Thoughts

It feels heavy, obviously, but this is the most solid portable battery charger I have ever held. It feels very premium. One of the selling points of this device is that it is water-resistant.

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot.
