Corvette ZR1-powered Chevrolet Silverado has us feeling sleepy

Here we have the kind of sleeper that'll wake you up no time: a short-bed, four-wheel-drive Chevrolet Silverado with an LS9 from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. With dyno numbers of 510 horsepower and 504 pound-feet of torque, there's a jump of at least 205 hp and 169 lb-ft over the most powerful factory engine you can get in that truck. The result.

Nokia Lumia 900 to be launched by AT&T in March

A few days ago, when Nokia announced the Lumia 900 for AT&T, it said the smartphone would be released "in the coming months.". Now, thanks to the official Nokia Developer Newsletter (see the screenshot below), we know that the new handset should be out in March. Of course, that's when AT&T will launch it in the US only, as there's still no word if or when we're going to see the Lumia 900 on other carriers / in other markets.
The Lumia 900 is Nokia's third Windows Phone Mango handset, and is pretty much a larger Lumia 800 with LTE connectivity.

The Simpsons are already making fun of Steve Jobs

You probably missed this among the CES clusterskgjhaskjgh: the Simpsons made fun of Steve Jobs on this week's episode, titled Politically Inept, with Homer Simpson. As Homer is being interviewed on TV, “Steve Jobs unveils iGhost” crawls across the news ticker. In the episode, Homer becomes a Glenn Beck type after Bart uploads a video of him having an Alec Baldwin-ish airplane meltdown moment. At one point, he gets interviewed in a Fox News program.

Huawei MediaPad to get Ice Cream Sandwich this quarter, also gets a new pink skin

Huawei was certainly the eager beaver when it announced this last summer that the MediaPad would be one of the very first tablets with Android 3.2 pre-loaded, and we could tell that the Chinese manufacturer wanted to do something similar with the Honor by offering a demo version of Android 4.0 through its official channels.

Mercedes-Benz DICE concept brings gesture controls to the cockpit (video)

Not to be outdone by its competitors from Ingolstadt, Mercedes-Benz brought out its own vision of the future of interiors, complete with augmented reality, a fully customizable dashboard and gesture-based controls. There's not a knob or button to be found. The video after the jump demonstrates the Dynamic & Intuitive Control Experience (DICE) far better than words can convey, but the basic elements are these: a series of proximity sensors detect hand motions across the interior, allowing you to scroll, select and control a variety of functions.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0N Plus shows up in Germany, circumvents Apple's design patents

Following its legal troubles in Germany, where Apple successfully banned the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from being sold based on design patents, Samsung redesigned its tablet and launched the Galaxy Tab 10.1N in November. It's been on sale since then, even though Apple did try to get it banned too. However, it's unlikely that it will succeed. And now we get another Samsung tablet redesigned for Germany. This time it's the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, and the new version is, unsurprisingly, called Galaxy Tab 7.0N Plus.

The Samsung Series 9 (13.3″ model) is only 0.5″ (12.9mm) thin, and weighs 2.5 pounds. Tim Cameron's ShowTime is our kind of commuter car for the apocalypse

It's amazing what a little good old-fashioned ingenuity can create. Well, that and about 200 feet of thick steel tubing, 16-inch Fox coil-over suspenders, an LSX 454 crate engine from General Motors hooked to a Powerglide automatic transmission, and a custom-built pair of axles and a set of four 43-inch tires. Of course, none of those components would do a lick of good if it weren't for a talented builder and driver, and Tim Cameron apparently is both.

The ladies and gents at Huawei have announced that new series of MediaPad tablets are headed to store shelves soon. These don't differ much from the original but they will be preloaded with Android 4.0. We imagine minor improvements were made internally but only on the configuration and layout side. -

They've also announced the Huawei MediaPad color series. They're MediaPad tablets but come in a number of different colors, including passion pink, shadow black and classic brown. It's not often you see tablets come in colors other than varying shades of white, black or blue so it'll be interesting to see how the market responds.

Do you remember the Tamagotchi craze that swept over the world more than a decade ago, as kids were introduced to caring for pets – albeit an electronic one. NoGeMo follows that route so much so that it has been labeled as a Tamagotchi clone, although the purpose of this is not to keep your kid happy with a pet that does not shed fur or having poop to clear, but rather, it intends to educate the Chinese population concerning healthy food. Chinese Greenpeace designed this game as part of their anti-genetically modified food campaign, teaming up with Mobile Now to create NoGeMo.

Somewhat lost in the fanfare of BMW introducing a hybrid version of its best-selling 3 Series at the Detroit Auto Show was a brief mention of its new navigation technology. The 2012 ActiveHybrid 3 will be the first hybrid to use its nav system to help predict the best time to use and recharge its battery. This will go well beyond currently available navigation technology that plots economical travel routes based on traffic and speed limits, also incorporating altitude, final destination and other real-time data to wring the most out of those electrons. For example, suppose there's a big hill on your route.

2013 Honda Accord Coupe Concept previews redesign, hybrid returning

In true Honda fashion, we're once again presented with a "concept" car that's only a set of wheels and a de-Bedazzling away from being production-ready. What you're looking at here is the concept that previews the next-generation Accord that will be dropping later this year, ready to compete with a full slate of redesigned mid-size sedans. Honda has once again taken a conservative approach to design, and while it's certainly handsome (except for those gaudy air intakes that flank both sides of the front fascia), we can't help but think that it already looks one or two generations old.
