Report: Windows Phone Overtakes BlackBerry in US

The battle to become the dominant smartphone platform in the United States is already a given, for now. The real competition is not whether Apple or Android takes the crown, but who captures third place and hoists itself as the dark horse of the market. A report from Strategy Analytics suggests that Microsoft's Windows Phone has overtaken BlackBerry OS to clinch the third spot among the largest smartphone platforms used in the United States during the fourth quarter of last year. “It was the first time Microsoft has surpassed BlackBerry since 2006,” the report adds.

It shouldn't be a surprise, really.

Read This: Slate argues Danica Patrick is putting the women's movement back

Danica Patrick has been a lightning rod for both praise and criticism throughout her objectively successful, decade-long career as a racing driver. Putting to the side for a moment that it is still very rare for a woman to get a drive in a top-tier series, something that Patrick first managed back in the 2005 IRL season, her successes are still impressive. Patrick is the only woman to ever win an IndyCar race, hold the best finish ever by a woman at the Indy 500 (third) as well as being the only woman to lead the storied race in Indianapolis. It's all of that background that has Slate writer (and racing aficionado) Laura Helmuth up in arms.

2013 Dodge Dart gets all Moparized

2013 Dodge Dart gets all Moparized

Last year, Chrysler announced it would be offering more than 150 Mopar parts and accessories on the 2013 Dodge Dart, and we got a look at some of these parts firsthand at the Chicago Auto Show. Showing off all the optional parts at once would surely create a gaudy monstrosity, so Chrysler chose to equip this particular Dart GT with just a handful of Mopar goodies, which still gave the car a nice and tasteful custom look that is available straight from the dealership (and with a full warranty, too). Most Offered in Compact-car Segment:.

2014 Chevrolet Cruze TD fires up its new diesel motor

Ever since General Motors confirmed plans to produce a diesel-powered Cruze back in 2011, we've been eagerly awaiting its arrival. And as part of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet has pulled back the cover on its oil-burning compact sedan, set to go on sale in the near future with a starting price of $25,695, not including $810 for destination. The heart and soul of the Cruze TD (that's its official name) is a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline four-cylinder engine rated at 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The iPotty: too much, or just right?

With the constant stimulation toddlers are getting from television and tablets, it may be hard to pry them away when they really have to go potty. CTA Digital invented the iPotty to deal with this problem. The iPotty is a modified potty chair with an attached stand for an iPad. It comes with a bowl and seat that are removable, and a cover for the seat when not in use. There is a screen cover designed to keep liquids or dirty fingers from touching the screen. The stand is also fully removable, so it can not only be cleaned easily, but also acts like a perfectly normal training potty.

GameStop Shares Fall After Rumor Of Next-Gen Xbox Curbing Used Games

The news of this rumor has spread across the Internet like wildfire, and as a result, GameStop's shares have dropped substantially, down as much as 11.4 percent today, which is their biggest drop since May 17.

One of the most highly-anticipated smartphones is the Huawei Ascend P2. Today, we are more compelled, thanks to yet another unofficial leaked shots of the device courtesy of Chinese site QQ Tech. It looks like the real deal.

Archos 80 Platinum Could Be Rebadged Onda V812

Archos began to introduce their quad-core tablets to the world in 2013 with the Archos 80 Platinum and Archos 97 Platinum, and history seems to repeat itself, as it does look as though one of these tablets might not have been designed in-house. What showed up on the FCC this week pointed out that there is an Onda logo at the back of the Archos tablet, which strongly suggests that Archos could very well be using an Onda V812 tablet and slapping their label on top of it instead.

BlackBerry Q10 Could Arrive In US In May Or June

BlackBerry Q10 Could Arrive In US In May Or June

It is rather weird to refer to RIM as BlackBerry now, considering how we've been so used to using both words in a single sentence. While BlackBerry has already announced the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone at the end of last month in New York City, they remained silent on the actual release date of the device. So what are we end users supposed to do. BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins did drop some hints, and if they are true to his word, it might mean the US would receive the BlackBerry Q10 sometime in May or June, and that, my friends, is still a long way off.

Folks over at China seem to think so, or at least, Neo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer who recently paraded their Neo N003 which ought to receive an official announcement sometime next month, where it will be followed by actual retail availability in April or perhaps May at worst. It is rather unfortunate that the Neo N003 will be a China-only device, but perhaps someone might be game for a gray import. Nature had always proven to be quite the inspiration for science over the ages. How else did you think that man learned how to fly, wings made out of wax notwithstanding. Well, a group of researchers have managed to come up with a tiny two-wheeled robot that will study just how the insect is capable of tracking down smells. In the process, these researchers intend to understand the scent-tracking behavior of a silkmoth (aka Bombyx mori), which eventually could assist scientists in developing robots which are able to sense environmental spills as well as leaks simply through the sense of smell.

HTC Teases Something Camera-Related

HTC has posted a very informative blog post about the history of photography. In it, HTC details the early development of photography, starting with the Daguerreotype, considered as the first commercially successful photographic process developed in 1839. HTC continues by writing about the first use of the “Kodak” trademark by the Eastman Dry Plate Company in 1887, as well as the $1 Brownie camera in 1990 that introduced photography to the masses. The history also includes the invention of the Polaroid camera in 1947 by Edwin H.

If you ask your friends and family what kind of tablet they would like for a present, it's safe to say they'd mention the iPad based on how well they've been selling over the years. The Probox2 (sold by W2COMP) is a recent entry in the Android TV (or Android Stick PC) category. These devices fit somewhere between the size of a fat USB memory stick and a deck of cards and are full Android devices. They usually have DVI video-out, one or more USB ports, WiFi, and sometimes wired Ethernet ports, but they don't have touch displays. The idea being that you use these devices as media/entertainment hubs for your TV, or as really inexpensive PC devices.

Oblanc U.F.O. NC2 Headphone review

Once again, I find myself reviewing a brand of headphone that few people have heard of. And while it's fun to discover those diamonds in the rough, many times there is a reason for a particular brand's obscurity. Which brings us to the Oblanc U.F.O. NC2 headphone with a built-in subwoofer. Yes, that's right - a subwoofer.

In today's increasingly crowded headphone market, a newcomer needs a niche - or a gimmick, depending on your perspective. Well, since you don't see a subwoofer in a headphone every day, I was intrigued. It turns out that the sub in the NC2 works as advertised.
