Martian Watches G2G smart watch review

Smart watches are the big topic lately, with rumors of various companies supposedly releasing their version at any moment now.  If you don't want to wait, there are some smart watches already on the market.  (You can see reviews done here at The Gadgeteer of some smart watches in the related links at the bottom of this review.)  I like the idea of a smart watch, but I hadn't seen anything that really grabbed my attention until I saw the Martian Watches.  They started their life as a Kickstarter project, but I didn't learn of them until after they were already successfully funded.  I love the retro look of these watches.

Fuel smugglers costing Europe $4B+ in lost taxes

Cash-strapped European governments have been fighting a parasitic drain on their tax revenues from fuel theft and the tax fraud that goes along with it. According to a report from Bloomberg, individual governments are losing anywhere from 100 million to 1.3 billion euros ($133 million to $1.7 billion at today's rates) due to the scams. The increase in theft and fraud is being blamed on a 52-percent jump in diesel prices.

Geely targeting US market in 2016 with help from Volvo

Following reports that it'd team up with corporate sibling Volvo on a Chinese-market car comes a report from Bloomberg that Geely would reattempt its entry into the US market. The Chinese brand had a display at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, but has been absent from the US scene ever since. The Geely branded cars will be jointly developed with Volvo, and bank on the Swedish manufacturers reputation for safety and reliability.

Mark Johnson, CEO, Zite using his app on Google Glass.  . Zite is the news application that was bought by CNN in August 2011, its 2.0 version was launched for iOS in December 2012, and today, Android devices owners will get access to Zite 2.0. The company is going full force to Google, so the lucky people who could afford the $1500 Google Glass will be able to enjoy the wearable Zite experience.

Google Hangouts Getting HD Quality Video

Over the last few weeks Google has started to roll out 720p HD Hangouts video support to a subset of its users, it has been revealed today. Google's Vice President of Engineering, Chee Chew has confirmed the move in an interview and said that this switchover will be more or less invisible to consumers, though they'll get cleaner and better video, Chew says. The rollout of HD video support in Hangouts for all users will be completed soon. To make this happen Google has transitioned Hangouts video chats from H.264 video codec to VP8. VP8 is a royalty-free and open video codec that Google released back in 2010.

Some of you guys might have heard a while back that the website, The Onion, was hacked by a group calling themselves the Syrian Electronic Army. Now it looks like the group is back again, and this time they are claiming that they have taken over Twitter's domain registration. For now it appears to be true as a Whois lookup on Twitter's domain name reveals evidence pointing at the Syrian Electronic Army. This includes the admin's name which reads "SEA SEA", and the admin's email which points towards "sea@sea.sy".

Want further proof that car thieves are the scum of the Earth. Some crooks in Sweden made off with a prized Volvo - the very first production P1800. The P1800, a two-door coupe, is a classic that's been growing in popularity over the years, thanks in no small part to its gorgeous sheetmetal. This particular example, wearing chassis number two, wears red paint with a white interior. It was swiped from a locked storage facility in Stockholm, according to Hemmings, between August 21 and 22.
