Blockbuster Movie Pass streams unlimited content, but only for Dish subscribers

Dish Network on Friday announced the upcoming availability of Blockbuster Movie Pass, an unlimited video streaming service akin to Netflix's “Watch Instantly.” Beginning October 1st, Dish subscribers will have unlimited access to a small library of digital content that they can stream to a PC or to a TV using a standard Dish set-top box. While Netflix is moving in a completely different direction, having just spun off its DVD rental service to focus on streaming, Dish is sticking with the multi-pronged approach as Blockbuster's best bet.

The OCEAN7 LM-4 V2 takes all of those strengths and then changes the game by adding ceramics.

iPad and other tablets still considered toys, Citi finds

81% of iPad owners have paid for an application compared to just 43% of those who owner other tablets, according to a recent Citigroup survey. iPad owners also download more applications, which is not surprising given the larger selection of tablet-formatted apps in the iTunes App Store. According to Citigroup, 63% of iPad owners have purchased 11 or more applications versus 37% of non-iPad owners. Tablets have yet to gain the consumers' respect as a work device, however.

LG Optimus Hub (aka Univa / Optimus Two) earns its stripes at the FCC

Okay, we'll totally admit that we've got something of a phone crush on LG's successor to the Optimus One lineup. Sure, it hasn't debuted in the States, and its specs already look a bit tired, but there's tons of goodwill attached to this family of devices. Should LG properly execute, the handset promises to be an iterative improvement for all smartphone buyers that need to save some coin. Now this sexy creation is making its way though the FCC, and while it's difficult to tell whether this is an international model or is bound for our domestic shores, it's easy to realize that we're one step closer to its much anticipated release.

Samsung SCH-I815 Passes Through Bluetooth SIG – Possible 7-inch Verizon Tablet?

A mysterious new Samsung SCH-I815 device made its way through the Bluetooth SIG. Although listed as a “phone” the device seems to come equipped with CDMA and LTE meaning one thing — Verizon. The model number is also very close to the straight-outta-left-field SGH-T869 (Galaxy Tab Plus) which we're seeing hit T-Mobile soon as a revamp of the classic Galaxy Tab 7-inch. Looks like carriers are still hoping to cash-in on the tablet craze.

The folks at This is My Next, AKA The Verge, have apparently gotten their hands on video footage of a tablet device from Motorola running Honeycomb. This one's shell is white and apparently looks to be 7 inches (though I see it being closer to 10 if these images alone are to be judged). Not much else is known but that, but at least we know Motorola's cooking up something. Now, how about the actual video.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 gets 'behind the scenes' ad treatment

We have to admit that we tend to lean toward the Ford Mustang when it comes time to pick our favorite pony car, but the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 may change all that. The track-bred beast packs supercharged power, one very advanced magnetic suspension setup and a whole heap of attitude. Now, General Motors is out to build some anticipation for the newest member of the Camaro clan with a set of behind the scenes ads designed to get us all licking our chops before the vehicle arrives in showrooms.

Earlier this month, MSI opened fire on Gigabyte over the company's support of PCI Express 3.0. MSI made its claim through a slide deck press release, where it boasted that its motherboards featured true PCIe 3.0 support and that Gigabyte's boards did not. Tom's Hardware contacted Gigabyte for its side of the story and now, having talked to both companies in depth about the issue, and now seemed to have found the truth to the stories from both side, somewhat.

Ford's E-Bike Concept Puts Car Tech On Two Wheels

Ford's E-Bike Concept Puts Car Tech On Two Wheels

Ford tries its hand at e-bikes. What next. A Specialized SUV. Ford is the latest car maker to turn its talents to bicycles, and this concept E-Bike is the result. Unlike most other car-branded bikes, though, this one actually brings automotive tech to the party.

The bicycle part is pretty standard, if outlandishly styled. The frame is fashioned from aluminum and carbon fiber, the wheels look like 1980s mags, the gears are internal Shimano Alfine (11-speed), the “chain” is a carbon belt and the brakes are disks.

But the electric part is way neater. The li-ion battery inside the frame drives a 350w motor in the front hub.

Mystery super Lexus LS spotting lapping Nürburgring

We spy, with the lens of our spy guy, a rather unique Lexus LS that's taken to the track. Spotted lapping Germany's Nürburgring, this particular LS is wearing puffed-out fenders, a strongly styled decklid spoiler, what appears to be a faux nose hiding new bodywork, deep side skirts and a pair of vents on the hood. Something sporty is afoot, and we're itching to know more. Toyota is clearly testing a super sporty version of its flagship luxury sedan. What's not clear, however, is what exactly is going on underneath the bodywork.

When it comes to objects of automotive lust, few tip the scales further than the Lamborghini Aventador. If we can't afford the real thing, at least we can get ourselves a smaller scale model, right. Well, maybe… unless the 1:8 scale Aventador you've got your eye on comes with seats, headlights and steering wheel made from diamonds, wheels fashioned from gold and platinum and a perfectly scaled copy of the body crafted from carbon fiber.

Can't an automaker hide three crossovers in the wilderness in an effort to give them away without any problems. Apparently not, as Chrysler's contest to give away three Dodge Journey models randomly placed around the U.S. has been met with controversy. The winner of the second Journey, found in Oklahoma, is one Brad Neidy, who happens to be a Troop Leader for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The controversy sprung up after followers of the contest pointed out that, as a highway patrolman, Neidy may have had an unfair advantage in finding the crossover prize.

Google posts guide to prep Honeycomb apps for Ice Cream Sandwich

Google posted a guide on its Android Developers website on Monday that should help developers prepare Honeycomb applications for the new Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system, which will run on smartphones as well as tablets. That means Honeycomb developers will need to make their applications compatible with displays smaller than those found on various Android tablets. Creating an Ice Cream Sandwich compatible version of an application is important to reaching a larger audience, too.

Audi has grown its share of the U.S. luxury market with the help of a steady stream of new products. But while Audi has been on a product rampage, not all of its latest designs take up residence in U.S. showrooms. Included in that group of vehicles is the Q3, but AutoWeek reports that Audi's North American CEO Johan de Nysschen is at least considering bringing the diminutive CUV to America. That's not a lot to go on, and de Nysschen tells AW that the Q3 will need to "overcome certain challenges" in order for Audi to introduce the model to U.S.

Two Android Vulnerabilities Allow Malicious Apps To Install On Your Device Without Your Permission

About a month ago, two Android researchers were able to find two vulnerabilities within the Android OS that have yet to be addressed or patched up by Google in the latest Android updates. What exactly are these vulnerabilities. Well, the first bug is called a “permission-escalation vulnerability” and apparently, it affects all Android users. The exploit allows for an app to be installed without a user approving of the permissions typically required when installing an app. For instance, say you were to install a seemingly harmless (but infected) app from the Market.

Contactless payments have been something of a curiosity in the credit card industry. MasterCard's PayPass has been around for the better part of a decade, but merchants and banks alike seem hesitant to adopt the technology required to make the system work, and inconsistent implementation adds to the confusion - particularly for customers. Google's new mobile phone-based Wallet service has the potential to transform the technology from its current status as a transaction turkey, to a future as a checkout champion. But will it work.
