2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec loses creature comforts, gains sporting equipment [UPDATE]

2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec loses creature comforts, gains sporting equipment [UPDATE]

Hyundai unveiled the Veloster Turbo R-Spec at the LA Auto Show yesterday, and it's touted as a high-performance model without some of the standard features usually found on the Veloster Turbo, such as proximity-key entry with push-button start, premium gauge cluster, side-repeater mirrors, driver's auto-up window, high-gloss interior trim and heated leather seats. Like the other three R-Spec models Hyundai has released (Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec, Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec and Genesis 5.0 R-Spec), the Veloster Turbo R-Spec skimps on interior appointments to keep the price down.

Car and Driver releases 2014 10Best list, Miata's 8-year run ends (video)

Change. Unlike last year, in which Car and Driver's 10Best list was populated with almost exactly the same vehicles as the year before – the only change between 2012 and 2013 was that the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ twins took the position previously occupied by the Cadillac CTS-V. By contrast, 2014 brings with it several notable additions and subtractions. But first, let's look at what carries over from 2013 to '14: the Audi A6/A7/S6/S7 family, the BMW 3 Series/4 Series family, the Honda Accord, Porsche Boxster/Cayman and Volkswagen Golf/GTI.
That's a mighty fine list of machinery there, to be sure.

Samsung Galaxy NX now shipping for $1,700

Android-based cameras have always excited us. The Galaxy Camera, while not quite as nice as some other point-and-shoots within its price range in the area of picture quality, offered a unique software experience that not many other cameras could keep up with. That's why we were drooling over the Samsung Galaxy NX when Samsung first announced it. If you don't remember, it's a mirror-less interchangeable lens camera that provides photo performance comparable to a DSLR. It runs Android, and it looks downright awesome.

WRC codriver biffs pace notes, car ends upside-down in a crappy predicament

Professional rally driving is one of the toughest gigs going in motorsports. High speeds, uneven surfaces, varied weather conditions and the occasional flub from driver or co-driver can (and do) conspire to wreak all manner of havoc. Just a fraction too much steering lock, selecting the wrong gear at the wrong time or suffering from a microsecond lapse of attention can cause a racer to end up in the weeds with a quickness. Apparently, it can also cause you to end up in something altogether less desirable than the weeds. Just ask Citroën WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen and his co-driver, Jarmo Lehtinen.

Amazon.fr Listing Points To Crash Bandicoot For PS4 (Rumor)

We did read about how Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition could be making its way to the PS4 as well as the Xbox One sometime next year, thanks to a listing on Amazon Italy late yesterday evening. How about other games that could eventually end up on next generation consoles in the near future. The answer would be "perhaps", as Amazon France has a listing which points to the possibility of a new Crash Bandicoot title that will appear over on the Sony PS4. What you see above happens to be a screen capture of a product listing that was spotted over on Amazon France.

2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo gets official

Behold the 2014 Nissan GT-R as dressed by Nismo and inspired by the GT3-spec race car that competed in this year's Nürburgring 24-hour race. Called the "ultimate iteration of Nissan's GT-R supercar," power goes up by 55 horsepower to 600 hp with updates like high-flow, large diameter turbos, and torque is "over 480 pound-feet," which means it's risen by at least 35 lb-ft. Helping to keep it right-way up and pointed in the right direction are a race-tuned suspension with a larger, hollow anti-roll bar, custom Bilstein DampTronic dampers and the use of high-rigidity bolts.

Analogix SlimPort HDMI Adapter review

Analogix SlimPort HDMI Adapter review

I've mentioned before that I'm a cord cutter, which means I don't really watch or subscribe to cable television. I tend to watch most of my video on the internet via services such as YouTube, Netflix, etc.  I am also an owner of a Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 7 2013 tablet, and I really like to watch online video on these devices.  I recently had the opportunity to review the Analogix SlimPort HDMI Adapter for SlimPort Smartphones. Will it be good enough to use this to output my video to my HDTV?  Let's find out.

128 GB Meizu MX3 goes on sale in China

Meizu unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the MX3 a while ago. Back then, the company had also announced the availability of the 128GB model along with the 16, 32 and 64GB versions. The 128GB model of the Meizu MX3, is the first smartphone to feature such an extensive internal storage (although 128GB was achievable with the help of a microSD slot earlier), is now available in China for a price of CNY3,999 (about $660).
However, the 128GB variant of the Octa-core smartphone works only on the TD-SCDMA networks, which means that the device will be functional only on the Chinese mobile networks for now.

Google Has To Cough Up $17 Million In Fines Due To Anti-Tracking Snafu With Safari

Google, the most popular search engine to date, is also a company that is sitting on piles of cash, so to hear that they have to pay $17 million in fines because they have bypassed Safari's anti-tracking feature by placing tracking cookies on users' machines without prior permission, is but a drop in the bucket for them. Still, that is a lot of money to most people, and this bit of news was recently announced. As part of the final settlement with a Federal Court, Google has to fork out $17 million, in addition to a separate FTC fine of $22.5 million from last year, to 37 states in the US as well as the District of Columbia.

Why Android 4.4 went with white (and why we can no longer see network activity in the status bar)

With Android 4.4 KITKAT, Google brought a ton of changes. Most of those were new features and under-the-hood goodness, but Google also brought a few significant aesthetic changes that had some people a little uneasy. For starters, they eliminated the blue and decided that white was going to be the one, and only, color for things like keyboard text, status bar text and icons, and the trace trail inside the keyboard. Another key change Google made was moving the network status indicators from the status bar to within the quick settings toggle menu.
