Aprilia returning to MotoGP in 2016

Aprilia returning to MotoGP in 2016

Sportbike enthusiasts may have been a little disappointed that Aprilia didn't have anything groundbreaking to unveil at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan this year, but motorbike racing fans got some good news. Roberto Colaninno, head of parent company Piaggio, revealed that Aprilia will stage a return to MotoGP in 2016. The Italian company has had its ups and downs in motorcycle racing these past few years. Although it has been a dominant presence in the lower-displacement classes for years, it failed to keep up with the competition in the top tier.

Smart Power Strip set to bring simple, cheap automation to the home (video)

The really cool part, however, is all that you can accomplish remotely. You'll be able to check which devices are on (and turn them off), while a built-in power-consumption tracker lets you know how much juice each appliance is currently sucking up. You can also schedule those devices to go on and off, in case you want to, say, get a fan going to cool things off before you get home. On that note, creator Roger Yiu is also incorporating home-automation modules that make it possible to turn devices off and on based on things like temperature and motion.

SwiftKey's Layouts for Living upgrade now available in Google Play

SwiftKey's Layouts for Living upgrade now available in Google Play

A few weeks ago, we told you about a new SwiftKey upgrade that would make live easier for those using multiple-sized devices. SwiftKey dubbed it “Layouts for Living,” and it brings us a multitude of keyboard options. Note 3 users can finally get away with one-handed use. Tablet users can split it in half to type with both hands. And normal-sized phone users, well, things are just as smooth as they've always been. All of the new keyboard layouts can be undocked and resized to fit your own personal taste.

That update has finally made its way into the Google Play Store as a free upgrade for SwiftKey purchasers.

Ram shows its trucks are for work and play

There are no shortage of pickup trucks at this year's SEMA Show. The popular platform has been ripe for customization for years, so it should come as no shock that Ford, General Motors and Ram are all showing a fair few trucks in Las Vegas. From the Ram camp, we have two offerings - the Ram Sun Chaser and the Ram Dually Case Work Truck. The Sun Chaser opts for a beach theme, similar to the Fiat 500 Thalassa.

Sony gives update on Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 rollouts for Xperia devices

While the early days of Sony Ericsson didn't make us believers in Sony's ability to get their devices upgraded, the company has spent the last couple of years trying to clean that reputation up. As you'd expect, Sony wants to get as many of their customers up to the latest version of Android that they can, and that won't stop with the launch of Android 4.4 KITKAT. We still have some unfinished business to take care of, though, and I'm talking about that Android 4.3 update they promised before.

T-Mobile users can now send MMS messages to Google Voice numbers

T-Mobile users can now send MMS messages to Google Voice numbers

For the longest time, MMS messages between Google Voice and T-Mobile numbers has been a very miserable experience. And by miserable, I really mean nonexistent. Things are getting just a bit better today, though, as Googler Alex Wiesen has announced that Google Voice phone numbers can now receive MMS messages from T-Mobile numbers. The experience isn't totally seamless, of course. For starters, any images sent via MMS will be sent to that Google Voice account's associated Gmail inbox.

LG G Pad 8.3 Review

LG G Pad 8.3 Review

After a rather successful re-entry in the high-end smartphone market, LG feels "ready" for the very challenging tablet market which is expected to grow by 30% every year as far as predictions go (2016). LG has studied people's usage pattern and believe that form factors of 7" to 9" will represent more than half the tablet market by then, so 8.3" would be an ideal size to use.

Watch this massive 8-minute long compilation of 2013 Nürburgring crashes

Planning a trip to the Nürburgring any time soon. This video might make you, at the very least, reconsider taking a super-expensive car (or bike) to the legendary German track. Yes, this is an eight-minute video of just crashes. It's actually kind of hypnotizing to watch.
Now, it's important to note that there were no serious injuries in any of these wrecks, even in the one shown above, which is far and away the worst bike wreck in the video. It should also be known that these crashes are just from this past year and are almost exclusively at one corner (Brünnchen).

Creations n' Chrome Top Notch Mustang is a one-of-a-kind Fox

Is there a cooler car from the 1980s and early 90s to mod than a Fox-Body Ford Mustang. No, there isn't. If you disagree with us, we suggest you have a look at this 1990 Mustang Coupe, which just might change your mind. Although considering just how extensively modified this car - the Top Notch Mustang from Creations n' Chrome - is, we wonder just how much Ford is left in this old pony.
It rides on a custom race tube chassis that weighs a scant 700 pounds, while carbon-fiber bits and bobs help lower the overall curb weight to a mere 2,400 pounds.

For gamers who might not have played the original Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, there might be some aspects of the game that might be lost on you, but for faithful followers of the Warcraft franchise, there will be some fond memories right there. The expansion will introduce two factions warring against each other: the Draenei (who made their appearance in the Burning Crusade expansion), and the iron orcs who have inhabited the world of Draenor alongside the Draenei.

Ford CEO Alan Mulally has made the short list to take over tech giant Microsoft, lending further credence to rumors that the 68-year-old former Boeing exec would ditch Dearborn and move to Redmond. The report comes from Reuters, which claims that alongside Mulally, former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and three candidates from within Microsoft are on the short list to succeed Steve Ballmer at the company's helm, although previous reports claim the Ford exec is the number one candidate. Mulally is currently working without a contract, although Bill Ford seems to believe that he isn't likely to depart.

The Corvette Pacific concept (shown above) starts with the performance-oriented Z51 package and shows off the more custom look of West Coast car designs with its Torch Red paint contrasted with black rocker extensions and a front splitter.

Make-A-Wish Foundation Wants To Turn San Francisco Into Gotham City For A Day

We all love our super heroes, not just in comics, but on the big screen and sometimes in video games as well, and while most of us are probably just fans and know that they aren't real, the same cannot be said for children who might otherwise believe that these super heroes exist, to the extent where the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be calling upon the people of San Francisco to help turn their city into Gotham for the sake of a 5-year old boy who is currently battling leukemia.

Lexus has announced its Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show cars: a group of eight Lexus IS sedans spanning all three generations, and a 2012 LFA supercar. One of the show cars, a custom 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport, is a creation penned by IS fan Rob Evans, the winner of a contest to design a Lexus SEMA show car. The standouts in the group of Lexus IS show cars, in no particular order, are a 700-horsepower 2014 Lexus IS 340 (it has a heavily modified Toyota Supra inline six swapped in, which is stroked out to 3.4 liters, hence the nomenclature change) by Philip Case and a supercharged 2004 Lexus IS 300 by Maricar Cortez.

The company today announced Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Elite Edition, it essentially the same quadricopter that the company is known for, but now it touts three new distinct pixelated camouflage designs: Sand, Snow and Jungle. The first one, Sand, is a shading of brown, black and beige, allowing the quadricopter to blend in with sand dunes. Snow is a mixture of white, black and grey, a design that would certainly add a wow factor to the drone come winter.

Be it a smartphone, tablet, phablet, iPod touch, or anything else, if you want to prop it up to use it to take a photo, watch a video, or have a video chat, an adjustable stand is something that's going to come in  handy. Several designs have come into the market, but something versatile, light, and easy to travel with (the sweet spot for my needs) has been tough to find. Enter the Keizus Quadropod – a white, four-limbed creature with rubber feet and an adjustable screw clamp for a head.
The overall device is a central body 1.34″ long and about an inch thick.

Rolls-Royce confirms Wraith convertible for 2015

Rolls-Royce confirms Wraith convertible for 2015

Until a few years ago, the Rolls-Royce product portfolio revolved around one model line, and that was the Phantom. But with the launch of the Ghost in 2010, the Goodwood-based automaker is expanding further. As with the Phantom line, a long-wheelbase Ghost ensued, followed by a coupe in the form of the Wraith. And now, as might have been expected, Rolls-Royce has reportedly confirmed development of a new convertible based on the same platform.
The new cabrio will be based closely on the Wraith, only with a convertible roof.

Android Jelly Bean Now On Over 52% Of Android Devices

Google's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was the latest build of Android prior to the release of Android 4.4 KitKat, and for those who still use Android's fragmentation as a point of argument to denounce Android's merits, you might want to think twice. According to the latest figures published by Google, it shows that adoption of the Jelly Bean update now accounts for over 52% of all Android devices out there. Of course given that there are multiple Android Jelly Bean builds, such as Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean, Android 4.2.x Jelly Bean, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, there is still some fragmentation, but still a vast improvement from before.

Swedish Kids Think Their Parents Are Too Tech-Obsessed

If there's one thing parents love to nag their kids about, it would be how they spend too much time playing video games, chatting on their computers, playing with their phones or have their noses buried in a tablet, but over in Sweden it would seem that is the opposite case. Children are complaining that their parents are a little too tech-obsessed and are spending more time than they would like on their gadgets. This is according to a study conducted where it was found that 33% of Swedish parents admitted that their use of their phone and/tablet was a sore point with their kids.

Dale Mathis 3D Metal Mechanized Playing Cards are insanely cool

My heart skipped a couple beats when I first saw the 3D Metal Mechanized Playing Cards from artist Dale Mathis. I absolutely love gears and Steampunk style art, so I was very interested in learning more about Dale's Kickstarter project. First of all, the Tuck Box (the box that holds the playing cards) is the 3D Mechanical part. The cards themselves are NOT metal except for ONE. It's in the back of the deck and magnetizes it to the optional display frame thus causing it to become mechanical. Sounds confusing but you have to watch the video to fully understand. Dale's Kickstarter project has already surpassed the $35,000 goal by over $65,000.

Chevy recalling 2013-14 Camaro models over airbag stickers that don't

According to Edmunds, Chevrolet is recalling 18,941 Camaro models in the United States due to airbag warning stickers on the sun visors that may peel off. This might not seem like a big deal, but, as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration puts it, "If the airbag warning label detaches from the visor, the driver and front seat passenger may not be warned of the risks of airbag deployment, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.". The affected Camaro models are from the 2013 and 2014 model years, built between July 9 and September 6, 2013.

Dubai claims debut of Toyota GT86 sedan concept

Typically, when the organizers of an auto show reveal that a new car will debut at their show, we take notice. But this particular claim from the Dubai International Motor Show ought to be taken with a grain of salt. As our compatriots at AutoGuide discovered, the Facebook page for the Emirates auto expo includes a post with an interesting claim: that a sedan based on the Toyota GT86 (known in the US as the Scion FR-S) will debut at the show.
