Jelly Bean cameos as Android 4.1 at a Galaxy Nexus listing via Google Play? [Rumor]

It looks like the folks over at XDA were able to grab an “evidence” of Android 4.1, masquerading as Jelly Bean. Rumor has it a couple of days ago that Google's Nexus tablet could be the first to run the aforementioned Android OS. Of source, folks haven't really figured out if it's Android 4.1 or 5.0. But with the Google I/O commencing next week on the 27th of June, it is the talk of the town for the moment.
Apparently an XDA member was able to grab a screenshot showing Android 4.1 sporting the name Jelly Bean when he was reportedly trying to compare the price of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Google Play.

Global LCD TV shipments fall for the first time ever

. For the first time ever, shipments of LCD TVs fell year-over-year, declining just over 3% to 43 million units. The decline had a noticeable impact on the market, with total TV shipments falling almost 8% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2012, the steepest decline since the second quarter of 2009. According to the latest report from DisplaySearch, quarterly TV shipments reached only 51 million units. "Soft demand and cautious expectations about the upcoming year in many parts of the TV supply chain have led to a slowdown in shipments," noted Paul Gagnon, NPD DisplaySearch Director of North America TV Research.

The facelifted 2013 Audi R8 was out on public roads and, naturally, videotaped. Sheathed in camo again after having been at it totally naked not long before, there is less to visualize, but you can at least see – and, just as importantly, hear – it in action. Make sure to watch the whole thing: the special feature at the end of this video is a brief shot of the once-again naked R8 taking a turn at the Nürburgring. Stylistic changes are limited to small details like new LEDs, taillamps and exhaust tips.

Sony's PlayStation Store taken down to comply with new South Korean law

We know that when it comes to gaming, South Korea has both a vibrant and a rather strict gaming culture going on at the same time. Now it seems that PlayStation 3 gamers who are looking to access the PlayStation Store in South Korea might suddenly find themselves unable to access it. According to reports, a new "Game Industry Promotion Act" will be going into effect starting on the 1st of July in South Korea. What this new law does is that it makes it illegal for online services to ask someone who is under the age of 18 to verify their account with their real name or age.

So far during our review of the handset, we did not experience any heating problems so this makes it the first we're hearing of this issue. Microsoft confirms no upgrade path to Windows Phone 8, unveils 7.8 for legacy devices

The debate can now be laid to rest: devices currently running on Windows Phone 7.5 will not be on the receiving end of the long-awaited Apollo update (aka Windows Phone 8). But that doesn't mean those smartphones are at the end of the line. It's long been speculated that the reason Microsoft would want to restrict WP8 to new phones is primarily due to improvements in hardware support and the change in platform architecture, and this conjecture appears to be right on the money. After all, how can single-core devices with WVGA screens take advantage of multi-core and additional resolution support.

Australia finally gets the R18+ Rating for Mature Games

Australian gamers have something to cheer about today. After much deliberation, the Australian Parliament's finally passed legislation approving the R18+ rating for videogames. This means that Australian gamers will have access to mature-rated games without having to import them from other countries. For those unfamiliar with the R18+ issue in Australia, previously most games deemed "mature" by other countries would be banned by the Australian government, removing even adults' abilities to buy a mature-rated videogame in stores.
Previously, only M15+ games have been allowed within Australian borders.

Harshness aside, Microsoft made clear at today's Windows Phone Summit that all WP8 updates will be delivered over the air, with an available program to give "registered enthusiasts" early access prior to broad consumer pushes. The real kicker, however, is this line: "Devices are supported with updates for at least 18 months." For those keeping count, the Lumia 900 shipped here in the US on April 8th.

Windows Phone 8 to start on HTC, Huawei, Nokia and Samsung devices with support for 180 countries

When Windows Phone 8 arrives in the fall, it will have a relatively narrow slice of hardware makers: HTC, Huawei, Nokia and Samsung will represent the first wave. That's excluding some significant partners that have surfaced even over the past year, including ZTE. When they do ship, though, all of them will be using new Qualcomm processors; we have a hunch that's code for Snapdragon S4 variants. There certainly won't be any shortage of regional support with apps available over 180 countries and 50 languages accounted for - more than Apple mentioned as attached to iOS 6, Microsoft is keen to add.

Reconstructing 3D spacial data has long been possible, but convincing the average consumer of that would be another chore entirely. In the future, however, it may be simpler to believe. A crew of researchers at Tokyo Institute of Technology are hard at work developing a new system that "quickly creates 3D spacial data from photos taken with a digital camera." Every audio product Sonos has delivered so far has worked on the assumption that you would never need anything else after you bought it, whether it's linking to a sound system you already owned or an all-in-one system that Sonos built itself, like the Play:3 or Play:5 (born as the S5). The newly released Sub, by its nature, is entirely dependent on having one of the two Play speakers, and shows the company is becoming more of a traditional audio brand with a full ecosystem.
