The decline had a noticeable impact on the market, with total TV shipments falling almost 8% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2012, the steepest decline since the second quarter of 2009. According to the latest report from DisplaySearch, quarterly TV shipments reached only 51 million units. "Soft demand and cautious expectations about the upcoming year in many parts of the TV supply chain have led to a slowdown in shipments," noted Paul Gagnon, NPD DisplaySearch Director of North America TV Research.
