Walhub is an easy way to add storage to your light switch

Walhub is an easy way to add storage to your light switch

When you live in a small house or apartment, storage space is a valuable commodity that has to be managed well, or your house might end up looking like an episode of Hoarders. That's why I love the concept of the Walhub. It is a replacement faceplate for single and double gang wall switches that adds hooks and a storage slot to a location that would otherwise go unused. Available in rocker or toggle switch styles, the Walhub features an easy to install design that will allow you to orient the hooks on either the left or right side of your switches.

Martian Watches G2G smart watch review

Martian Watches G2G smart watch review

Smart watches are the big topic lately, with rumors of various companies supposedly releasing their version at any moment now.  If you don't want to wait, there are some smart watches already on the market.  (You can see reviews done here at The Gadgeteer of some smart watches in the related links at the bottom of this review.)  I like the idea of a smart watch, but I hadn't seen anything that really grabbed my attention until I saw the Martian Watches.  They started their life as a Kickstarter project, but I didn't learn of them until after they were already successfully funded.  I love the retro look of these watches.

Fuel smugglers costing Europe $4B+ in lost taxes

Fuel smugglers costing Europe $4B+ in lost taxes

Cash-strapped European governments have been fighting a parasitic drain on their tax revenues from fuel theft and the tax fraud that goes along with it. According to a report from Bloomberg, individual governments are losing anywhere from 100 million to 1.3 billion euros ($133 million to $1.7 billion at today's rates) due to the scams. The increase in theft and fraud is being blamed on a 52-percent jump in diesel prices.

Nintendo Admits Wii U's Issue Is Lack Of Steady Software Launches

Nintendo's Wii U was probably launched with the best of intentions, but unfortunately the console has been struggling since its launch, with retailers such as GameStop calling the sales of the console "disappointing", and with Nintendo executives blaming the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake as one of the reasons the console was not selling.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Will Reportedly Ditch Plastic For Aluminium

Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will use aluminium instead of plastic for its case. Next year's Android flagship is expected to be the first Samsung device to switch to aluminium and magnesium, the company will reportedly switch other devices in the future as well. Metal does offer a much more premium feel than polycarbonate or plastic. The company's rivals such as Apple and HTC already use this material in their flagship smartphones, Samsung adopting a metal based casing for its flagship is likely to increase competition between these players.

Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, was interviewed by the BBC yesterday. He talked about Apple, its major rivals Samsung and Microsoft, Tim Cook and the future for Apple. He said that Tim Cook isn't out of place as the company's leader as Steve Jobs “chose Tim Cook to be in that role, in that position,” because Jobs had a strong feeling of what makes a company and its products great, adding that Apple has remained “nimble and innovative” over the years despite its size.

As far as the iPads are concerned, Apple is rumored to release the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 later this year, possibly around the holiday season. However, if a new Bloomberg report is to be believed, the company might unveil the new tablets alongside the new iPhones on September 10th.

While taking photos at weird and "artsy" angles might be relatively easy, taking photos that perfectly straight on the other hand is a more tricky affair. This might explain why some professional photographers carry accessories that help them determine if their cameras are perfectly aligned. Well the good news is that thanks to technology, we don't have to worry about that, and Instagram is bringing that convenience to the app in an update that will automatically straighten up your images.

Liberace's gilded Cadillac could be yours

With their chrome grilles and oversized wheels, it's hard not to notice a Cadillac these days. But this one is even more blingtastic on account of the 23.75-karat gold-leaf bodywork. The 1931 Cadillac Golfer's Drop Head Coupé is said to have belonged to the inimitable performer Liberace, who didn't just have it covered in gold – he also had the exterior door handles plated in silver and the inside handles in 24-karat gold as well. It's also got a white leather interior and headlights that – well ahead of their time (if you'll pardon us, Mr. Tucker) – pivot with the steering wheel.

Want further proof that car thieves are the scum of the Earth. Some crooks in Sweden made off with a prized Volvo - the very first production P1800. The P1800, a two-door coupe, is a classic that's been growing in popularity over the years, thanks in no small part to its gorgeous sheetmetal. This particular example, wearing chassis number two, wears red paint with a white interior. It was swiped from a locked storage facility in Stockholm, according to Hemmings, between August 21 and 22. The P1800 was owned by Mats Eriksson, vice president of the Swedish P1800 Club, who had given it a thorough restoration.

3D Hubs Shows 3D Printers Available In Your Locality

3D printing has seen a significant rise in its popularity, though they're not as common as your average printer. The main reason behind this is that 3D printers are expensive, an average unit might cost over $1,000. So even though everyone would like to use it, they won't be able to because of the evident problem. 3D Hubs is a new service that fixes this issue to an extent. The service will display 3D printers that are available in your locality, you can upload your design and the owner can print it out. You can then meet the owner, pay a fee and pick up the printed object.

The service has been publicly launched today.

Motor Recall app makes game out of identifying vehicle lights at night

What will they think of next. This is an app called Motor Recall, and if you're at all like us, it's pretty much the equivalent of any nighttime car ride as a kid - see a pair of headlights or taillights, pick out the make, model and if you're lucky/good, the year. Now, the clever folks at Case By Case Studios have turned that time-honored way of surviving a long drive into an app. Loaded with over 250 different headlight and taillight patterns, players have the choice of either matching the headlights with taillights in a game called Match, or out and out guessing which vehicle is being shown, not surprisingly, called Guess.

Mod-3 Radius case for iPhone 5 review

For some reason I can never find a case for my iPhone 5 that I truly like.  The truth is, the iPhone 5 feels great in the hand, and most cases spoil the smooth, sleek design.  The Mod-3 Radius case (provided by BiteMyApple.co) protects the corners with a bare minimum of bulk.  Here's a closer look.

The Mod-3 Radius case comes in a plain box  Nothing fancy.  That's fine, because you'll be mesmerized by the simple elegance of the Radius case.

You'll also find a small bag with an Allen wrench and four tiny screws.  These are spares.  That's good, because they are TINY.

World's greatest drag race, indeed. The contestants, as MT points out, cover a huge variety of engine types, drivelines, aspiration types and body styles, making for a genuinely varied and interesting field of competitors.

Producing the upcoming 1970s Formula 1 movie Rush wasn't like the old days, when a mid-budget film could be pitched with a good chance it would be financed by a major production company. No, even after famed director Ron Howard jumped on board the F1 biopic of legendary drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda, he couldn't use his clout at Universal Studios to persuade the company to finance it, Variety reports. Universal cited the film's biopic elements and F1's low profile in the US as reasons not to produce it, but the company did agree to handle US distribution.
