netTALK DUO WiFi Review

About two years ago, I reviewed the netTALK DUO.  Since then the people at netTALK have been keeping themselves busy by coming out with a new version, the netTALK DUO WiFi, which allows you to place the device anywhere there's power and a WiFi signal.  You're no longer tethered to either the computer or a router.  They've also added some other features. Before I go into the details of the netTALK DUO WiFi, I'd like to point out that switching to a VOIP solution for a phone service is not for everyone.  This has become very clear to me based upon the numerous comments in a review I did for another VOIP device here on The Gadgeteer.

NexPhone Combines the functionality of smartphone, tablet, laptop and PC

With so many tech gadgets available today, it often becomes hard to keep track of all the data across all these devices. For your 24x7 work, you need to have a smartphone. A laptop needed for more professional tasks whereas a tablet has to be there to be carried along. Finally, a PC is also a must-have for some heavy-duty work and hard-core gaming.
Asus tried to come up with an apt solution when it unveiled its PadFone. PadFone is essentially a smartphone-tablet-laptop.

Google officially removes ‘The Pirate Bay' from autocomplete search suggestions

. Google (GOOG) made the first big strike in its campaign to punish repeat copyright violators in its search rankings by deleting autocomplete suggestions for The Pirate Bay's website. TorrentFreak reports that typing in the first few letters of “Pirate Bay” will no longer give an autocomplete suggestion for the popular file-sharing website, although typing “Pirate Bay” in full and pressing return will still retrieve the site as the first search result.

HuMn Wallet – Interesting Minimalist Wallet Design

I am going to come out of the closet… and admit that I have a wallet fetish. I am always surfing the net and browsing magazines to find cool new wallet designs. So far I haven't found a new wallet that makes me want to switch from my all time favorite Waterfield Designs zippered wallet, but that doesn't stop me from looking. Gadgeteer reader Griffon B sent me a link to a wallet that is unlike any wallet I've seen so far. It's the HuMn wallet that takes a new approach to customizable slim minimalist currency and credit card pocket storage. The HuMn features aluminum plates that are held together by an elastic band.

It's been a year since the legendary guitar amp and speaker makers at Marshall Amplification made a splash in consumer audio with its Marshall Headphones spin-off (Zound / Urbanears). In commemorence of the amplification division's 50th aniversary, both have announced the Hanwell: Marshall's first speaker rig that's made for a counter-top instead of a festival stage. Combo guitar amp / speaker meets HiFi speaker. Most anyone who plays guitar, or has seen the likes of Slash and Nigel Tufnel shredding it up, will immediately recognize the iconic Marshall design ethic down to its iconic plastic nameplate on the front grill and gold accents.

BitGym Motion SDK brings Kinect-style games to Android and iOS, no huge living room required (video)

If there's a common barrier to playing with a Kinect controller, it's free space. The sheer amount of necessary distance between sensor and player is fine for suburbanites with expansive living rooms, but not so hot for apartment dwellers. Thankfully, BitGym is doing its best to bring hands-free gaming to small spaces with a new Motion SDK for Android and iOS developers. The kit takes advantage of the front cameras on phones and tablets to track three-axis movement, leans and multiple players without any special hardware - and without necessarily rearranging the furniture.
