6.44″ Sony Xperia ZU (or Z Ultra) gets photographed yet again, pencil-on-touchscreen action depicted

Sony's first phablet will be called Xperia ZU, or Xperia Z Ultra (the jury's still out). And apparently, it could get official as early as tomorrow, during an event at which the Xperia C will be announced. The Xperia ZU has seen a fair number of leaks over the past few weeks, but what we have today is another actual picture showing the handset in operation (the first one having surfaced a couple of weeks ago).
The rumor about the fact that you'll be able to operate the ZU's touchscreen with a pencil (or even a ballpoint pen) seems to have been legit after all, as this image too chooses to emphasize this.

Wells Fargo Gives You Option For SMS Receipts At ATMs

So, you want to go green and tend to find many different ways of getting around it. Why not add one more to your growing list. Wells Fargo has just announced earlier this morning that their customers now have a choice to receive receipts over a text message whenever they perform a transaction that warrants a receipt at one of the company's own automated teller machines (ATMs). Of course, there is always the old school choice of having your receipts be printed out at the ATM, or if you have a heart to reduce the consumption of paper, how about having the statement emailed to your on-file email address.

Earlier this year, Bill and I reviewed several of the Panasonic KV-Series document scanners. We both agreed that they were very capable pieces of hardware. The only issue I had with it is that Panasonic had not developed OSX drivers for those of us who use Macs, a huge oversight in my opinion. My only viable option was to run Windows via BootCamp or Parallels – a tolerable but not very eloquent solution.

Garmin announces $700 outdoor GPS unit running Android

Garmin was quickly chased out of the Android smartphone game when it tried to release a bevy of Nuvi-branded smartphones in conjunction with ASUS, but the navigation company has decided to give Android another go. The catch is it's not a phone this time — it's a standalone GPS unit called the Garmin Monterra. And it costs $650 (or $700 if you want world maps). That's quite a steep price considering the device doesn't house cellular radios. It has your standard suite of sensors and connectivity features otherwise, including Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC and Ant+.

Buick celebrates 110 years by naming most significant model of each decade

In May of 1903, Buick began work on its first vehicle, the 1904 Model B, the first example of which was sold to a doctor in Flint, Michigan. That first sale was appropriate since later on, Buick became known as a "doctor's car." The Model B is the first of 11 cars chosen by Buick to highlight each decade of the company's 110-year history. The 1916 D-45 Touring with a six-cylinder engine was Buick's highest seller that year, and helped push overall sales past six figures for the first time, making Buick the top-selling automotive brand. In 1931, Series 50 got an eight-cylinder engine, which helped the company survive the Great Depression.

Backup camera rule pushed to 2015

Once again, the federal mandate for backup cameras has been delayed. According to Automotive News, the rule requiring backup cameras in new cars is being pushed back to 2015, reportedly because regulators are now considering giving safety rating incentives to vehicles equipped with this new technology. US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, who will be stepping down from his role once a successor is confirmed, said that more analysis of the rule's cost to the auto industry as a whole is necessary before the mandate is officially issued, Automotive News reports.

Alleged LG Optimus G2 screenshots show onscreen keys

A trio of leaked screenshots that allegedly come from the LG Optimus G2 have appeared revealing a bit of what LG has been cooking for its upcoming Android flagship smartphone. The images in question show that the company hasn't altered the look of the Optimus UI too much, but has rather given it a few refreshing touches here and there. What the screenshots do reveal though, is the resolution of the Optimus G2. The smartphone's 5" screen is now confirmed to have full HD resolution .
