Leaked HP roadmap points toward TouchPad and Opal show later this year

Don't you just love leaks. We do, what with all the shadowy operations going around, capturing photos on-the-fly with a shaky hand as there is always the risk of getting caught by your superior or authorities – hence the blurry images of a particular handset or device. Screenshots, however, are not affected by trembling hands, so here we are with a leaked roadmap which points toward HP's plans for their webOS platform in 2011.

Verizon promotion sees cheaper iPhone 4, HTC Thunderbolt

Verizon promotion sees cheaper iPhone 4, HTC Thunderbolt

We know that times are hard – and have been for the past few years, not to mention in the years to come. Despite all the doom and gloom, there is always a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. Verizon Wireless knows this, which is why they have cobbled together a new promotion to come which will slash the prices of some popular smartphones, the iPhone 4 and HTC Thunderbolt included. The latter is going to go for free – with a new 2-year contract, of course, which translates to an outright savings of $249.99.

LG Optimus 3D launches, with three 3D Gameloft remakes onboard

The long-running saga of the LG Optimus 3D launch schedule has come to an end, with the phone now ACTUALLY ON SALE through Carphone Warehouse. It's rather expensive, though, with tariffs starting at £35 for the extra-chunky 3D mobile. As well as the novelty of the phone's glasses-free 3D display, buyers will get three free “digitally remastered into S-3D” games from Gameloft to show it off – with NOVA Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, Let's Golf 2 and Asphalt 6 pre-loaded on the Android phone.
Optimus 3D owners also get a 50% discount when buying additional 3D game remasters through the phone.

Did The Droid Bionic Just Pass The FCC?

Did The Droid Bionic Just Pass The FCC?

We're already counting down the days until Verizon launches the Motorola Droid 3… July 7th if you didn't know. Now we're hoping the Droid Bionic will face a similar fate, get a launch date, and leap into our hands. After all, it will (god willing) be the first 4G dual-core Android device to launch on big red. The above picture comes from the FCC and looks to be the Droid Bionic. If it is that means its one step closer to seeing store shelves. Of course the Droid Bionic has been delayed and delayed so at this point, nothing quite suffices as imminent.

How It Works: Backside Vs. Frontside Illuminated Camera Sensors

How It Works: Backside Vs. Frontside Illuminated Camera Sensors

By hiding the circuitry behind the pixels, a backside illuminated sensor gathers much more light. Image: Camera Technica. Friday seems like a great time to stop working, kick back with a beverage and read up on something that you have been wondering about since, like forever. So today we bring you one of the most pressing issues of the day: backside vs. frontside illuminated camera sensors.

What's the difference? In construction, not much. But in use, they're like night and day — almost literally.
