The coming 2013 is shaping to become the year of the ultra-budget tablets. The Wall Street Journal, citing a source who has “direct knowledge” on the matter, reports that the upcoming Acer Iconia B1 tablet will be priced at “around $99.” The final shelf price, meanwhile, will be determined on a country-to-country basis. The 7-inch tablet is slated to sport similar specs as older versions of the Kindle Fire and Nook Color, including a 1024 x 600 screen resolution and a 1.2GHz processor.
Acer is set to launch the Iconia B1 in developing markets first.
