It was back in 2010 when VLC was first released for the iPad. A few months later, the play-anything functionality touting app was also released for the iPhone. However the app was pulled from the App Store in 2011 due to violation of the GNU General Public License. Since then the app has been available in Cydia, the jailbreakers' app store. The problem is that not everyone who wants VLC on their iOS device has a jailbroken device. There's good news though. VideoLAN, the developers of this app, have announced that by tomorrow a new VLC for iOS app will be available in the App Store.
