Shigeru Miyamoto to focus on smaller, personal projects

Shigeru Miyamoto to focus on smaller, personal projects

All good things must come to an end, and it is a rather sad to hear that the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, will no longer spearhead massive games and projects, but will instead step down from his current position to work on smaller, more personal projects. I guess his swansong would be the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Super Mario 3D Land, both of which were released this year, and this passing of the baton to younger designers might see a change in game design philosophy. Hopefully future Mario and Zelda titles will continue in the spirit of Miyamoto by his padawans.

Ubergizmo, Shigeru Miyamoto to focus on smaller, personal projects
