This is hardly surprising, but the HTC ThunderBolt is now free from Verizon. You do have to sign a new two-year contract though, as you'd expect. Still, a free smartphone is a free smartphone. The ThunderBolt may not be today's cream of the crop, but it's still a pretty decent upper-midrange handset based on specs, and it's not often that those can be had for free, even with a contract.
We've seen the ThunderBolt discounted in the past, at one point it was even almost free, but those things happened at third party retailers. This time it's Verizon itself, perhaps signaling the fact that the ThunderBolt is on the way out.
